I would just like to thank the sutherland arms hotel - golspie, for the hospitality they showed me on my recent stay. The hotel has recently been refurbished (to the highest of standards in my opinion) the rooms are fresh, clean & warm. When i arrived i was very parched, so decided to give there bar a go, i was glad to see they had real ales and a wide selection of whiskeys (my two favourite drinks). My meal was served in the Bistro and was delicious, i had brie then the spagbol.

On the way back from my meeting in wick i stopped in there coffee house, and had the best Latte and scone i have ever had.
I was told the coffee house is named after the cook, Betty Macnicol,

Overall this hotel is excellent and i will be stopping here when i am up again. I will also be telling all my friends and work partners to stop here aswell

p.s Thanks also to Bones who gave me directions to find the Assembly Rooms and for the knowledge about Dunrobin Castle and Ben Bhraggie.

I would just like to say this a fantastic place to go for a Coffee and Lunch. After we had finished a mornings cycling on Ben Bhraggie, we were looking for somewhere to go, with the Coffee Bothy closed we ventured up the street and were glad that we found this place. The Staff were really friendly, my Latte was done to perfection and the homebaking was to die for.

We will be telling our friends about Betty's and we will definately be back.

I have stayed at The Sutherland Arms in Golspie a number of times now. The hotel which is currently being renovated, which I must say is being done to perfection, is a jewel box and the staff and location make it a wonderful place to stay. The Food is excellent. The bar is nice and relaxing. The 1808 Restuarant is fantastic, my bedroom was nice, warm, fresh and clean. Honestly, I couldn't fault anything. I had a fabulous stay! It can't be beat for value and comfort. I believe they are opening a new coffee house in January, which I will definitely be visiting when I am up again in the spring time. Thank you Sue, Kevin and the SA Staff for such a pleasant stay.

The SA is a great place to stay, the staff are very friendly and make you really welcome, a big thank you to Sue,Rob, Heather,Alex,Liam, Kevin,Shirley,Karen and Marella.

I stayed here with my partner and the level of care we received was great from the bubble blonde waitress Jodie. She made us welcome and was perfect all the time. Unfortunately the same could not be said for the wife of the man who owes it. She failed to build a rapore with us and fellow guests and was most aggrieved when people ordered food. All in all the hotel would have been perfect if Jodie was running it.

Top Local Tips for Golspie

Award Winning beaches I went for a walk along the beach, only 2 minutes from the hotel. Very fresh and breath taking. The walk extends from Golspie pier right round to Dunrobin castle. Outstanding but wrap but warm!

drivers only due to poor public transport available in the area, would advise anyone looking to travel further afield and using the hotel as a base to arrange transport prior to visiting
