Myself and my partner enjoyed our stay at your hotel immensely. We found the staff extremely helpful and the hotel surroundings excellent. We will certainly be visiting the hotel again in the near future.

Historical Traveller Reviews of The Marks Hotel

In love with Marks

from irishgal82
Stayed in this hotel for one night back in October. Was originally meant to be three of us staying but ended up as two. Because we arrived in on the first flight that morning the hotel had kindly ensured that our room was ready when we checked in about 10am. Loved the decoration but don't think its something i would ever put in my own house! Location was very central - so close to the shops....Room was a little small for 3 people but for two it suited perfectly. Room backed onto a carpark and the roof of another building so was very quiet. Toiletries in the bathroom were lovely and the shower was great. Plenty of towels too...The only thing i felt about the room is that it was very warm. Too warm in fact and we couldnt figure out how to turn the heat down....As we were only there for one night we didnt drink in the bar or have the breakfast but the cocktails looked yummy!! Would definitely stay again if i got the chance!

Great Value Hotel

from pink-princess
I recently stayed in this Hotel whilst attending a course in Glasgow. I choose this Hotel for Price and Location and so was a little doubtful as to what i was going to get for this low rate. I was very pleasantly surprised.
The decor is very new and funky. Plasma TV and Wi-fi are a great touch for a value hotel. The room was very clean and well appointed.
The bar/restaurant were very nice and the cooked breakfast was of a very high quality.
I have read in other reports that noise levels were an issue for some guests, i stayed in a room facing the road and do not think the levels were any different to what you would expect in an other central location.
Although i used this hotel for business, i would definately use it again for personal travel.

Stylish, comfortable and reasonable

from clarabubs
I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel as we paid a pretty reasonable price. I think it's been recently refurbished and the decor is pretty funky - maybe not everyone's taste, but I really liked it. The room was comfortable with everything you'd require of a hotel room. It's right in the city centre so really handy for all of the shops, bars, clubs etc.

We didn't eat in the restaurant but it looked lovely - very cosy - and the bar was great (especially their cocktails!!)

Staff were really pleasant, which always makes a difference.

All in all, I'd be happy to recommend it to anyone - and I'll probably be staying there again myself.

Funky decor-central location-poor communication

from Gardener01
The first thing that you notice as you walk through the doors is the jet black wallpaper and its stark contrast to the post-box red seating; really striking and contemporary. The bold theme is continued in the hallways and bedrooms with really modern 'Designer Guild' wallpaper and soft furnishings.
The room was spacious and the floor to ceiling windows lovely if draughty. The hotel is very centrally placed and so we were able to park up and walk everywhere. There is a parking agreement with a local car park and it is only here that - for us - the hotel fell down.
Firstly, the map they provided to get to the car park was totally inaccurate and it took us a good while to escape from the places it sent us around the one way system! The car park is a 10-15min walk from the hotel so remember that when arriving and departing as it would be a real pain to have to take suitcase through the city.
When we were about to depart we put our ticket, 'validated' by the hotel, into the pay machine only for it to demand the full £20 cost rather than the subsidised rate. On ringing the hotel to ask for their advice, we were asked for our mobile number and told 'someone' would ring back and let us know what to do! As we were ready and eager to leave at that point we set off in search of help within the car park. It was only at this point that we were told that the validated ticket had to be paid in cash at a certain office and not at the machine. This was a simple thing to do but why did no-one at the hotel think to tell us this when they were stamping the ticket at reception?
At home today, 22hours and a couple of hundred miles away from that car park, 'someone' did ring back from the hotel and left a message saying they were returning our call! Not a great response time!
On the whole, the hotel was really good value and we would not hesitate to stay again but little things like this are so simple to avoid.

Fantastic from start to finish

from MedinaAirdrie
I spent a weekend in the Marks hotel. I would just like to share my experiance with everyone. From arriving at the hotel I got a warm welcome from receiption, quick and professional check in. Went to my room was was pleasantly suprised at the quality and amenities the room had. As I arrived late i ordered room service. This was outstanding, the quality and value for money was fantastic. I would definetly go back the next time I am in Glasgow

Big comfy beds

Stayed in this hotel at the weekend had a nice relaxing time. Very central - could walk to everything that we wanted to see, nice rooms, big comfy beds. Breakfast was excellent - loads for vegetarians! Would definitely recommend.

chic city centre hotel

from craigandlouise
I stayed in the Marks Hotel for a Saturday stopover and will definately be back. The hotel is very individual with colourful but chic wallpaper in the halls and the bedrooms (not sure that my husband would have appreciated it as much as me!). My room did not look over the road and so was very quiet. The bed was extrememly comfortable. I was slightly disappointed that the range of Arran Aromatic toiletries promised on the hotel website consisted of a small bar of soap - no shampoo or moisturiser. Having stayed in a number of bland, shabby hotels in the city centre this hotel is definately a most needed breah of fresh air and is perfectly located for a days shopping or a night on the town.

Great hotel bar

from EDWINA78
We stayed here for one night and it it a lovely hotel. very friendly, helpful staff and the rooms were immaculetely clean.
The hotel bar made was great too ( try their bellini cocktail ) Would stay here again and i'd recommend it to anyone

1st Class

from WellHappy
Where do I begin

Stayed in this Hotel when it was Bewleys Hotel on a regular basis. Have seen it during its redevelopment and now that it's complete it is stunning.

The bedrooms all refurbished are very modern, stylish and particularly clean. With Arran Aromatics in the bathrooms, plasma tv's and complimentary Wifi throughout, consideration has definately been given on this redevelopment. Have stayed in several rooms and although all great the rooms at the back of the Hotel are slightly bigger but the ones at the front have some great views of the city.

Now to the ground floor, you would not even recognise it. The reception has been extended and looking stunning giving a great first impression.

The Bar and Restaurant, called One Ten Bar and Grill, although a place that local businesses seem to be using, makes you feel equally welcoming. I was on my own as a business guest and never once felt uncomfortable.

I chose to eat in the Restaurant and will stay in this hotel again even if it was just for the food. All the managers were in total control of their staff ensuring service was first class. A recommendation would definately be the surf n turf. Cooked to perfection one of the tasiest. If you only opt for two courses you will definately force yourself to a third. Although reluctant to admit (chocolate Fondant ) is heaven.

Overall the food matched the quality of the venue. I even asked where some of the materials came from as so stylish.

Breakfast was served in the same Restaurant and although a different team on duty equally as attentive. So many hotels I stay in have the same staff in the morning as night before and to tired to serve you. Another bonus point was the Breakfast service. NO HOT BUFFET of dried uninteresting food, instead all freshly prepared and served.

All in all first time I have posted a review for some time but be a shame for others visiting Glasgow to miss the chance.

Your impression when you leave will be the impression you walk in with FIRST CLASS

Good Could be Better is right

from UniDad
Stayed for three nights 24-27 August 2007. Not an invitng facade but better once in the room.
Rooms are a good size and generally well appointed. Beds comfortable. Our room on second floor facing the street suffered from traffic noise well into the night, and did not have any net curtains which means that if you want privacy during the day the curtains need to be closed to stop the office workers from across the street looking in.
We had the TV turn on ast 5 am as the previous occupant had set the alarm - hopefully feedback to the hotel will mean that their housekeeping will check this in future.
No on site eating available during our stay but looked as though it would open immediately - this will be a definate plus if prices and quality are good - they will need to be to compete with the avaialbility in the city close by.
Tea coffee and milk were limited in the room and had to ask for more, which was hapilly given, but just a couple more of each in the room would have been better.
Location is good - taxi fare from Glasgow airport £23. Close to undergorund and main line stations.

Top Local Tips for Glasgow

Clubs near this hotel Definately a good hotel to spend the night for any young girls/guys who are out in Glasgow clubbing. It's just off Sauchiehall Street which has many clubs/bars like The Garage, Campus etc and also right next to Hope Street which has the famous Buffalo Joes.

near to everything Centraly located, value for money, excillant service

A night at the Karma Sutra This excellent restaurant in Sauchiehall Street, is well worth a visit. Although not cheap it was packed at 8:00pm. The menu is interesting, the food fresh and very tasty; the service attentive and swift.
