Excellent Location
from janenmikeExcellent value for money. One-star rating must be wrong.
from Lost_In_TransitIf you are planning to stay in at the hotel a lot, you would probably like a few more facilities. But, if you like me, just want a base for exploring the city and a decent bed to sleep in, this certainly fits the bill. Breakfast was a rather sad story, but there are several good places serving breakfast in close proximity.
Traffic and live music from the pubs across the street can be a bit noisy before closing time, so if you want to go to bed early you should ask for a room on one of the upper floors facing away from the main street.
The one-star rating for this hotel must be wrong. It is most certainly a three-star, and I will probably stay there again on my next visit.
well presented hotel
from chris036Rooms are simply decorated, but a good size and clean. 2 visits here in 2002 and I did have soft beds both times, but no dust or scratching is always a good sign. Breakfast is included, help yourself continental style and it's a good healthy way to kick off your day.
Glasgow has developed into a nice place to visit over the past decade or so, and if you're reading this with a thought to stopover I heartily recommend you spend at least a full day here, and take an open top bus tour to see the best of the City.
Nice hotel, well located and good value.
Great value, great for shopping
from A TripAdvisor MemberGood for the money
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe facilities are basic but that's what you expect. It was always clean. The biggest problem we had is that the reception area doubles as a bar and so stinks of ciggarette smoke - role on March I say.
There was also the fact that our stuff had been opened / moved about by those cleaning the room. Apparently it's an outside firm and not employed direct by the hotel. The staff were sympathetic when we spoke to them about it but we received no feedback from them.
In summary, the hotel is great if you know what to expect (ie clean, basic standard) and was great as a base for getting out an about in Glasgow.
Perfectly standard
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe rooms were perfectly clean, the view from the room was great, and the staff were both efficient and helpful. The only downside was the breakfast, which was cold and of dubious freshness.
interesting
from viperroom_112no complaints
from A TripAdvisor Memberwould not hesitate to stay in the future
remember to get a parking voucher at reception
Fair
from TingelingLocation fine, close to most things, never worried. Friendly greeted, but service perhaps a bit slow. Brakfast included : Inviting and varied (a nice surprise).
Room : Had a room with ordinary bed and sofabed. Ordinary bed fine, but sofa WAY BELOW any standard even in a budgethotel like this. Make sure you get a room with a new sofa if someone in your company has to sleep on one.
All in all : Good choice if you're on a budget.

from DigglegateTop Local Tips for Glasgow
Glasgow's greatest attractions Glasgow is famous because of its modernist arquitecture - it's the hometown of famous architech and designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh. You must visit the School of Art and the Mackintosh house at the University. There you will also find the Hunterian Museum and the Hunterian Art Gallery (you have access to the Mackintosh house from inside the Gallery). The main University building itself is worth the visit. The Tower is the highest point in Glasgow and you can climb it for a small fee between May and October. Very close to it is the Kelvingrove Museum, the most visited museum in the UK, bar London. In the city centre, you'll find George square and the curious St Mungo's cathedral. Shopping sprees are a must in Glasgow, along Buchanan, Sauchihall and Argyle Street. If you have time left after all this, you should visit the Burrell Collection, set at the south of the city. And of course, never forget the Science Centre and the famous Armadillo!
attractions there are none
BIG Shopping Glasgow is very good if you want a cheaper hotel than Edinburgh. Its only 1 hour away and the trains are every 30 min as far as I remember. Glasgow is full with shops so you are will not be bored if you like spending money around :) The only attraction I can remember now is George Square where we celebrate New year. It was good !!!
