Fab Time
from Josh1
Hi All... Just had a fantastic 2 night stay at this hotel. We decided to stay away for a few nights to get away and enjoy city life. Excellent location although the building looks a bit dated from the outside but the staff make up for it! Read the other reviews before going and agree with the other that would defo go back again... Thanks guys!
City Centre Location - Terrible Service
from 6
Stayed at the hotel with another couple when going to see a concert.
The hotel itself is ok, although because it is tucked away behind the train station I'm not sure I'd want to come back to it by myself late at night.
We were asked to pay an increased rate because it was an 'event night' and when we queried it we were faced with a duty manager who asked us leave.
It was the worst service I've ever encountered in any hotel and few months on we're still trying to get an apology (interesting keeping in mind we've not even asked for a refund - just an apology).
Use the hotel if you need to but brace yourself if there are any problems!

Reasonable for a Budget Hotel
from William50
I stayed at this hotel for one night, and found it overall quite reasonable for the money. I had a generous-sized room on the 11th floor, with a panoramic view over the city. Although the bed was comfortable, there was no sofa or arm chair, and it wasn't a room I'd want to spend too much time relaxing in, although that was not a problem for me on this occasion. The M8 motorway runs close to this hotel, and despite the double glazing, there was considerable noise penetration. The room was however very clean, as was the ensuite bathroom.
I found the decor and ambience of the restaurant unconducive to relaxing dining, but there were no problems with the quality of the food or service.
Note - the only breakfast option available at this hotel is an "eat all you like" buffet of warm and cold items. At £7.50, those of us with normal appetites can do better elsewhere in the city.
Also, if you are tempted to use this hotel and are booking no more than a couple of weeks or so in advance, check if you can get a lower rate through a website such as Laterooms.

Acceptable budget hotel
from C3B
I stayed here for three night and had saw good and bad elements to this hotel.
The the staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel is in a great location for the city centre and the exhibition centre. The shower was also pretty good.
However, my room could have been cleaner and it was very noisy (the M8 thunders right past). There is also a massive lap dancing club right opposite.
Tip: if your breakfast isn't included in the price of your hotel room as mine was, I would not pay the extra £7.50 for what is available.

Reception desk staff were exceptional
from A TripAdvisor Member
A friend and I spent eight days in Glasgow, staying at Charing Cross Premier Travel Inn from May 10-17. We found ALL the reception desk staff, especially Debbie and Susanne, to be extremely helpful in directing us to find our way around the city as well as to the city tour bus and train systems. Needless to say, we were very proud of being two great grandmothers and being able to get around Scotland as well as we did, with their help of course.
We found the hotel to be very clean and comfortable with a good restaurant. The only drawback was not having a telephone in our room when our luggage was misplaced for a couple of days, but the staff made the necessary calls as their time permitted. Thanks again Debbie and Susanne.

Hellhole!

Avoid this hotel if possible. Worst version of this chain I have ever stayed at. Dodgy location - down dark alley behind a train station. Unless "18 -30" is your idea of prefect experience would NOT recommend.
Always like it when I stay at this hotel.

Great Value

The staff was friendly and helpful, my room was spacious and clean. There is a decent bar and restaurant and the price is quite fair for the city center. Overall I enjoyed my stay and would certainly stay there again.
Only For Stag Weekends
from A TripAdvisor Member
Having read the other reviews of this hotel I decided to stay here on a Friday night. They must have stayed at another hotel . This is unlike any other Premier Travel Inn I have been to before. The atmosphere is like a backpackers hostel with standards of cleanliness to match. There are eleven or twelve floors accessed by a rickety lft and the foyer has the charm of an obscure local government office. The rooms themselves are quite small with grim decor. Pale blue walls covered in scuff marks and unidentifiable brown stains. The stains had clearly been there for weeks. The bathroom stank of urine and had holes in the wall where a towel rail had been clumsily replaced. Scracthy toilet paper that brought back memories of primary school and an empty shower gel container completed the experience. The bedding is cheap and nasty but clean. All night I was woken by stag weekend people running up and down corridors or slamming doors. In the morning when I complained, I was rudely told that they have 24hour reception and therefore could have had any problem sorted. She even showed me how much shower gel she had in a cupboard. I wanted it in my bathroom.
All in all, this is an embarrassment to the chain and they should either sort the management out and spend some money bringing the place up to scratch or sell it off to a hostel chain. The idea of a business traveler staying here is a sick joke. For 50 a night you can find dozens of hotels offering better value in Glasgow.

brilliant location and great value for money
from dublinsdelight
I have stayed in this hotel on three locations, and for value, and location I would definitely recommend it. It is within walking distance to the main shopping areas and It is great value for clean and comfortable rooms. The bathroom was just standard and the beds were extremely comfortable.
Top Local Tips for Glasgow
Avoid Sauchiehall Street While there's no shortage of atmosphere after 10 on Saturday nights on Sauchiehall Street, it is perhaps not for the faint-hearted and certainly not the over 50s! It's noisy, racous and colourful though there is an unpredictable but unmistakable element of menace as well. Every pub and club has a crowd of young smokers outside, and it can be quite hard to navigate through it all.
Borders Bookshop Opnes late when no other places are open and allows you ro brows and read the books. Huge selection and plenty of seats. A nice haven!
dont stay here you will only be paing to be laughed at
