Looking at the pictures of the hotel and the rooms, i wasnt very impressed. Good impressions on arrival and when shown the room, absolutely delighted. Very modern, classy tv, brillian restaurant, brilliant and friendly service. Only thing i am disapointed at is that it's fully booked for when i want to stay next time!!!
Much more than expected!

As a young couple going away for a week end, we were on a budget and therefore looking for a cheap enough place to stay which was near enough to the city. As we arrived at the hotel, we were welcomed by the receptionist which gave us the key to our room. Opening the door to the hotel room, I was nervous about how the room might look after reading some reveiws, but I was more than impressed with the room, the size, and the cleanliness, although the bathroom was very small but that did not matter to us as it had everything needed, shower/bath ect. The decorating of the room was the only thing I did not like, as it was very old fashioned. The hotel all together was very much enjoyable, we spent a lot of time here. We enjoyed the bar downstairs, and my boyfriend was more than happy they had big TV with sky sports! The food at the bar was great, a bit of everything, and the staff were very nice and friendly. Check out time was 11am, on the morning of leaving, just a little after 10, while in the shower, the staff were knocking on door, asking to leave so they could clean the room. We could leave our bags at reception, which was very handy as our flight was not until late that night. The staff were lovely; one girl had even rang our taxi for us to go in to the city one night. The morning after, we were a little late for the lovely Scottish breakfast, but they were still glad to serve us, which we were not expecting, but very impressed about. It took about 25minutes walk in to the city from the hotel, a bus was much easier. But although the hotel was a little out of town, there were still many things to do around this area. Murrayfield football stadium was right opposite the hotel and so was an ice skating ring. Up the road was also a zoo. I would recommend this hotel to all ages of people, as it was nice, friendly, close to the city, lots to do around and at a very good price. We were very happy, and would def stay again! Thanks!
The worst hotel I had in Scotland

On the good side:
- Own parking place.
- Good Scottish breakfast....
On the bad side:
- Size of single room about 2 by 3 meters.
- Building badly maintained and unhygenic (had to kill crawling spiders).
- No elevator.
- Service indifferent....
On the whole: NOT recommended, worst of the 3 hotels I visited on my stay in Scotland

Find a good b&b instead as this isn't worth the money for a hotel. Rooms were dirty and could really have done with a good lick of paint. The service was shoddy (our room was left unlocked after someone went in there to fix something!) and the bathroom was very old fashioned. The place was also full of stag and hen parties on the weekend. I wouldn't stay there again. The staff serving breakfast were keen to help but that was it's only saving grace.

However on arrival we had booked a double room but when we walked up the flight of stairs somebody had already occupied that room we were told that another guest did not like their room therefore swapped with the room we would of had, we were allocated another room fairly quickly and a complementary bottle of wine was sent to us which was very nice. The bed was two beds pushed together and a bit lumpy the other thing is that you can hear absoultely everything so if your wanting to get good rest be warned that people will be walking around corridors opening shutting doors and you will hear it. luckly we only experienced one night like that.
the room also had broken window handle and was quite dark, the TV was at an akward angle but there was a handyman that arrived promptly to fix this.
The room was inclusive of breakfast which was realy hit and miss, we were expecting a buffet but greatful netherless. The staff taking your orders are polite but not vigilant if there are items that need replacing such as OJ or milk or ceral bowls so I felt that a lot of the time i was sitting there or hoovering around the table waiting for someone to refill something. My husband and I joked that breakfast was a daily surprise because we both would order the same food but either one of us would get 1 sausage or no tomotaoes or one bacon and the other two bacon and no eggs so it was pretty painful but we could of asked staff what was the reason for this but it would of taken so long to wait around for someone it was like whats the point.
we did enjoy our stay at Edinburgh and although the staff were friendly I dont think we would stay again.
