An unforgettable stay

My partner and I spent two nights at the Macdonald Holyrood to celebrate my birthday and what an unforgettable experience it was! The staff were lovely and made us feel instantly welcome and they couldn't do enough to help us with directions. We upgraded to the Butler's suite on the 6th floor and it's really, REALLY worth the money! Every evening your own personal butler hosts a canape and champagne event in the library on the 6th floor. It's all free so take full advantage! And the butler was so charming and even made me a birthday cake free of charge. I'll definately be returning here. The location was fine as long as you don't have a problem walking 10 minutes for restaurants/shopping. All in all a wonderful experience. Highly recommended. Great for older couples, younger couples and families. Also good for business types too as there is a large desk in the hotel rooms complere with modem connection.

Probably the best hotel we have stayed in Edinburgh. Excellent service and very good rooms. We hope to come back another time.

Very quiet and convenient

We traveled extensively at that time and do not have any definite comments. The staff was very courteous and helpful except for one staff member in the restaurant. Was not bad enough to report on so did not get staff member name. The doorman was particularly helpful with directions etc. Sorry I can’t remember his name either.
