I was very happy to find that the Bank Hotel in Edinburgh was offered in your reservation system. I usually stay at the Holiday Crown Plaza which is right next door to the Bank Hotel. They were unable to offer a better rate, so I scrolling thru your properties. I jumped for joy when I found the Bank Hotel. The hotel part is located on the 1st floor. Entry into the hotel is RIGHT on the Royal Mile and you pass through the pub, register at the bar window and off to your room. Breakfast was included and was delicious. I enjoyed the big king sized bed. I will return to this hotel over and over again.

Friendly and Convenient

First of all, this is a VERY convenient location, almost exactly half way along the Royal Mile. Everything you need to see and do in Edinburgh is walking distance away, and if you're the lazy sort, there's a taxi stand right outside the door. In case no one told you, the Royal Mile seems to have a 30 degree slope from east to west, so get your legs in shape before you go. Another reason to have strong legs is the lack of a lift (elevator to us colonists!). We were on whaT we would call the third floor, and the climb to our room was 56 stairs. That inconvenience was the only downside to this charming and affordable inn. This is indeed an old bank building renovated to be a bar on the main floor with three floors of rooms above. Clean, intriguingly decorated rooms, and very comfortable furniture are enhanced by windows which actually open and bring fresh air into the room. Full Scottish breakfast (or continental) included in the room rate makes this an even better bargain. Go on, try...... Read more
