My wife and I stayed here after booking an Urquhart coach trip from Newcastle. We have to say that the Staff are very friendly and helpful. The value for money was fantastic and we could not fault the food,Are coach driver Steve was fantastic and very friendly. Although the entertainment was not up to much as we are in are 40s the type of music not to are taste but expected it as the average age group on trip would be 60+. The hotel could do with an update but you have to remenber it reflected in the price £125 pp for a five day trip B.B and 3 course evening meal. The rooms were clean and towels changed daily, 3 trips included in the price. value for money 100%.We stayed on the quids in package all drinks ie house wines, shorts, Tennants and Boddingtons £1.00 a pint all week. If you are looking for a good value for money 3*** hotel this is for you.

Could not complain about anything. We were there for xmas. Food was excellent and plenty of it. Room was 1st class, clean, and warm. Staff were excellent, couldn't do enough for you. Bar prices were reasonable and friendly staff. We will be going back next year. Great views over the West Bay and the competitions were fun and so was meeting Santa. Well done to all the staff of the Glenmorag.

A Super Hotel!

I have just returned from David Urquhart break to this hotel. I was a little concerned as not all of the reviews that I had read were favourable and I am a very picky guest! I need not have worried. The hotel was clean and pleasant. Yes, there were areas that could still do with a bit of updating but any guest should remember the price they are paying is very reasonable and is not a 4* price! The staff were amazingly friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The meals were excellent: a choice of four main meals each evening for dinner, including a vegetarian option. The starters and sweets were great too. If you are still hungry after eating your meal, which is unlikely as portions are good, then the staff will bring you more food, extra bread, etc. Breakfast is self service and the queue forms about ten minutes before the doors open. As there are so many diners it can take a long time to work your way through so it is advisable to go down about 15 minutes before service begins. You have to queue for your cereal/ fruit/ fruit juice/ porridge and then when you have eaten that you have to queue for your cooked breakfast. We had a room with a Clyde view which was lovely. The rooms aren't huge but are more than adequate in size. Besides, with scenery like that around the hotel, you won't want to spend much time in your room! Rooms were cleaned and new towels delivered each day, which doesn't always happen in this category of hotel. The TVs look like they have come out of the ark and the reception isn't wonderful so don't expect too much! The evening entertainment was generally good. On one of the nights a young Scottish dance champion performed Scottish dancing for us. Bar prices aren't any different from any pub in the UK. The walk up to the hotel is very steep although the coach does drop you immediately outside the front door of the hotel. Dunoon itself is about a 20 minute walk although once at the bottom of the hotel driveway you are on the side of the Clyde. If you are travelling up by coach take planty of water to keep hydrated on the journey. It took 10 hours to get from Nottingham to the hotel and 12 from Northampton. I would also suggest taking sandwiches etc as some of the stops were very short; barely enough time to queue for a drink, let alone food added to which the prices were interesting!! A stop at Moffat Services is well worth it. Great Woollen Mill Gift Shop and a lovely little town. My aunt, who is 75 enjoyed the hotel every bit as much as I did. As I said, it is a very friendly place and if I was ever in the area again I would certainly stay there. The whole experience was great!

The Glenmorag looked splendid from the outside at the bottom of the driveway. Inside it was in need of a facelift. I was very disappointed with the vegetarian meals. I specifically phoned before booking and was told they had 4 choices. On the night of the evening meal, no vegetarian starter, so I asked the waiter to speak to chef to see what choice was offered, out came a fruit salad (no choice) which was clearly tinned. Only Ratatoulle was offered on the main meal, again it tasted liked tinned and I did not eat it. Lack of imagination by the Chef. No I would not go back to the Hotel. I must add the Staff were very nice.

Awakened before 6am nearly every morning by staff in the kitchen blethering. Bedroom only had one chair. Bedroom carpet was obscenely stained. Dining room service was very slow. Twenty minutes before the first course was served. Food well prepared and adequate. Breakfasts were superb. Eat as much as you like! Staff were very helpful! Despite complaints would go back to this hotel.

We were already familiar with Dunoon but our usual hotel was fully booked. We are now quite pleased about that. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful, meals were served in a busy dining room in which there wasn’t much room to move but they kept smiling and nothing was too much trouble. Rooms were clean fresh and comfy. The entertainment was of a good standard. All in all the best value for money we have come across in a long time. If I had to find something to gripe about it would be the steep climb to the hotel and the very small parking area (shared with coaches) in front of the hotel.
