The atmosphere was great,the view was amazing, the staff and owner bent over backwards to make our stay comfortable and the room was adequate enough (although the jacuzzi did not work and the toilet needed cleaned so we wiped it ourself with cleaning wipes) The hotel is charming and the staff are first class, I have never felt so comfortable in a hotel in my life.I would think about going back if I was going to dunbar.

Attended a wedding here and can quite honestly say it is the worst place we have ever stayed. Rude staff, awful food. Frost on the inside of bedroom window as heating not working. Candles instead of lights in toilets as fuse kept blowing.When asked about heating manager said he could maybe "blast it for an hour". Damp bedding. Bit like Fawlty Towers only without the humour. Completly overpriced for staying in a dump.Only one tv channel working and no batteries in remote.. i could keep going forever. STAY AWAY

A great place to stay. The staff were so very friendly and helpful at every turn. The food was fantastic. Especially the haggis dishes!! They even kept the kitchen open late for us one evening! The sea view from our room was just amazing. Kept the window open so we could hear the water all night - helped us have a deep sleep. Great (and very long) jaccuzzi bathtub was a nice surprise. The bed could have been better though - not very comfy and a bit old I think. As long as you are not expecting the "H-lton" etc, you won't be disappointed! A charming hotel. We plan to return.

The Bayswell Hotel is unique rooms are very very clean. All staff at the bayswell hotel are very pleasant they made myself and my husband feel welcome. I will definaetly go back soon the waitresses service was of a high standard.

Food is superb and very reasonably priced. Accomodation is clean and well presented. The Jacuzzi bath and 50" tv screen was a bonus!

Top Local Tips for Dunbar
Belhaven Bay This bay and John Muir Country Park is great. There is good surfing, birdwatching & wind/watersports plus the bridge to nowhere.
Sunny Dunbar? Allegedly Dunbar gets more sun than anywhere else in Scotland. Can this be true? Possibly, as it is on the east coast and comparatively dry relative to the west coast. But then you also get the odd haar (rather atmospheric sea mists). Also, the people that count sun hours probably include the hours before most of us get up! In my experience mornings are the best for sun and evenings bring dramatic skies, a pleasure for walkers, photographers and cloud watchers. I need to check the facts on this, but I am sure August can be pretty wet, but you can get the magic of the big East Lothian skies anytime of the year.
