As a many guests were pointing, it's a very old hotel, made of wood almost at its whole; although the rooms are clean and nice there's the point that the hotel doesn't have a single fire alarm... it has fire extinguishers, but if a fire is started in the basement, the whole hotel will burn to the ground.
Keep away from this hotel specially if you're a disabled person, as the -very old- lift is not working 80% of the times.
They use to have valuable chefs and the food is really nice; but don't expect it to be hot when the hotel is full, as they may have one or two waiters to serve 80 or 90 guests... they use to have a severe problem of lack of head waiter (or number of waiters itself).
Most of the waiters are left on their own and not even trained, so pray for them being willingly hard-workers and brave enough to still have a smile on their faces.
The kitchen porter finishes his duties before the dinners are over, as a result of that, many dishes, cutlery and caps would stuck in the kitchen all night being impossible to clean the next day in the morning. The best it could happen would be that inexperienced staff (waiters) try to keep it clean, with poor results... The same happens with table cloths and napkins...
As the few hired housemaids often forget to do the laundry work there's always problems with cloths availability, and sometimes the available cloths are rugged, dirty or even broken.
Minor problems as mismatched cutlery or not availability of teaspoons or meat knives are also frequent.
As they have a really small number of staff, they won't have night assistance, so don't expect to find anyone at the reception past 11 o'clock in the night, and the first floor bar is only open on Christmas eve or remarkable festivities.
The manager Allan and his wife are really nice to guests, unfortunately, they're almost the only valuable staff there and can't solve absolutely everything on their own.
In conclusion: The Drummond Arms could be a nice destination if you're planning to sleep a single night for a nice price, but if you're planning to stay for a longer period choose Crieff Hydro instead. It's slightly more expensive, but trust me, it's worth the money.
Don't even think to apply for working there for obvious reasons.
