Top Local Tips for Brodick

Walk to Glenashdale Falls If you are reasonably fit, the walk up to Glenashdale Falls on a good well maintained path through the Forest, starting at Whiting Bay is well worth doing. There is a sturdy viewing platform jutting into space from where a spectacular view of the falls can be seen when there is plenty of water as there was in January on our visit. The walk from the Youth Hostel side is the best way to do it, coming down the other side and ending at the "Coffee Pot" cafe, views are best from this side. If you do not have a car, public transport would take you from Brodick to the start and finish of the walk - there is a good bus service round the island. The walk is marked in the Forestry Commission walks brochure available in all Tourist Information outlets on the island (we picked up the brochure at Auchrannie Country House Hotel in the reception area). There are also good walks in the grounds of Brodick Castle, of varying lengths which we intend to explore on our next visit.

Holy Isle PowerBoad Great Fun We did the Arran Adventure Holy Isle powerboat trip whch was great fun. Not for the faint hearted as the oversized dinghy bounces over the waves, but great fun. Best to leave lunch until you get back though!
