Considering the location and the room prices, i dont understand the bad reviews others have given. true, the rooms were slightly tardy, but clean. The staff were excellent and accomodated me with a late meal after their meal times were finished.I was attending an oil rig course on my own budget and couldnt get anything near that price for that area. I intend going back this year for 5 days, MAYBE I'll get a discount for this review! Joking!

The Gordon Hotel - Rundown Shack

I recently travelled to the Gordon Hotel on business. I was horrified when I got out of the car and saw what appeared to be a "Substance Abuser" bouncing across the carpark. People say never judge a book by it's cover - however on this occasion my judgemental side took over and it appeared I had not underestimated this "shack" enough! Standing outside it appeared to be a derelict building in which maybe someone had left a dim light on ... Just maybe. On arrival the receptionist/manager was lovely - although clearly wearing rose tinted glasses. After my colleagues and I had pulled straws for the room keys we headed along the old fashioned dingy corridor to what appeared to be a tardis taking us back to the seventies. God how lovely it is to be spending a night in such a home resembling atmosphere. If your house has no double glazing and is riddled with damp. Also if you are a Mushroom Spotter you will deeply enjoy your stay. There is no need to draw the curtains as the mould growing up your window will block out all natural light quite effectivley. (I am now obviously coughing up mushrooms.) The bathrooms are insulated with yet more black mould - which appears to have been here longer than the carpet - your guess is as good as mine as to what exactly those stains are!? When you finally get over the breathing disorders and the jet lag from the time travel you have participated in - you may eventually decide to go to sleep - so you climb into your single bed in its nice crisp white bed covers - after having brushed your teeth presumeably in the bathroom covered in pubic hair and mould - you look up to switch off your bedside light to be greeted by cobwebs bigger than a grown man and see that the roof in your room is coming in to meet you. So now you have turned off the lights, your in your bed but you cant watch TV as the remotes they have screwed down incase you steal them arent the ones for the televisions in the rooms and then you hear it ... can you hear it? Scratch Scratch ... Its mice ... or rats - theyre free with the room to keep you company - its great that I only had to pay for a single occupancy but be able to keep all these wonderful little creatures in the wall opposite my bed. I was put into someone elses room (his clothes were still in the wardrobe - He had gone home for the weekend!) So I spent the night worrying that this man would come back to his room - that the door doesnt lock on and find me lying in his bed trying not to cry - or being attacked by mice. Or the little beasties crawling on the carpet ... But I suppose the main point I am trying to make here is that The Gordon Hotel should not be reccommended to anyone at all not even the desperate! I wouldn't like to be a long term resident - one night was bad enough...

Dump!

I booked this hotel for elderly relatives who were attending my grandfather's funeral. Due to lack of availability in Aberdeen this was our only choice. Booked two rooms, both had holes of various sizes in the walls, carpets were filthy, window could have done with a lick of paint, shower in one room was disgusting, wallpaper was hanging off the walls. Relatives were supposed to stay two nights but we checked them out after one having thankfully obtained two rooms at the Hilton Treetops (excellent!). Personally I'd rather sleep on the street than stay at the Gordon Hotel!!!!

Room had wall paper hanging of the wall damp smell, Shower had to be held into position, leaked and water ran into bedroom. TV has only 2 channels, could not phone out from room. To top it all beakfast ran out of fresh orange juice? Could not find anything good to say about this hotel.
