Beautiful grounds, rooms tired and service mixed

The views from the back of the hotel are fabulous over looking the water & the children's play area is a nice touch (need to be closely supervised because of said water!).

Rooms were very stuffy - no air conditioning & opening windows led to much increased noise as many overlooked bar areas. Bathrooms nice with good amenities, bedrooms somewhat tired. Felt room rate high for quality of the room.

Service at reception somewhat slow & reactive - not particularly friendly. We were there for a family celebration with approx 30-40 guests and no effort was made by the hotel to make the birthday celebrants feel special (e.g. no card or even a "Happy Birthday"). Housekeeping very quick to deliver iron & board.

Evening meal was very average (steaks overcooked, chicken tough) and service friendly but slow. Function room had no air conditioning so was extremely hot. Breakast could be made lots better with provision of little touches such as chilled water, croissants and some smiling staff! Would be very slow to return.

Thank you for taking the time to give some feedback on your stay with us. We take all criticisms very seriously and try our utmost to address all matters as soon as they are brought to our attention.
We are presently in the process of scheduling a redecoration and refurbishment programme for a number of our bedrooms including the one I believe your party was allocated.
I have taken on board your comment reference no birthday card for the celebrant and have agreed with management that this will be something we will do in future if the reason for the celebration is brought to our attention. We do this for weddings already.
I am concerned about the comment that the function room had no air-conditioning when in actual fact all of our functions are fully air-conditioned.
The issues you raised about breakfast service have also been investigated and I can only proffer my apologies as providing chilled water and croissants is a basic standard we always offer. Supervisors have been asked to ensure stocks are replenished through-out breakfast service.
I sincerely hope you and your party will return on another occasion so we can demonstrate the standard of service we would prefer to be recognised for.

Customer Service woeful

I attended the hotel this week for lunch. On arriving at reception, we sat down for 20mins before having to clean up the table ourselves. At "dinner", the carvary food was cold (and had to be re-heated), and the floor absolutely filthy. Orders were repeatedly wronged - however the staff were helpful at correcting this. I cannot possibly see how this service equates a 4* hotel - it certainly wouldn't anywhere else in Europe...

Thoroughly Enjoyed My Stay !

We stayed at this lovely hotel for our friends wedding. Just wanted to say what a great time we had. So often you go to these places and the staff do not want to know or you have problems. But all we received was the great time we expected. We were fabulously looked after by function staff and management alike. My relatives all work within this trade so I appreciate the hours and hard work that go into a hotel like this. The food was good, the views were spectacular, would just like to say a thank you to Jim, Daniel (surprised to see an Englishman out in the sticks) and David who helped us out round the hotel on more than one occasion when we were more than a little tipsy and more than a little lost. This places deserves there four star status our only regret was that we didn't get to use the Spa facilities that looked very inviting indeed. Many thanks.

Loved It Loved It Loved It

I just wanted to thank all the staff at the Killyhevlin Hotel and Spa for their professional and friendly approach.

My mother, sisters and I had the pleasure of staying from 9th -11th June when the weather was fabulous.

We were able to have drinks delivered to our table outside beside the lough by professional staff and followed this with several luxurious treatments in the hotel spa. I would reccommend the choco therapy .

Our dinner in Silks was delicious on Saturday night ( I reccommend the steak)and the Carvery on sunday although busy was very relaxing and we felt no pleasure to rush our meal.

The weekend entertainment was lively and fun with impromptu dances by residents being a particular highlight.

To top it all the rooms were pleasently decorated and absolutely spotless.

The killyhevlin is a gem! Set in gorgeous surroundings, with a fabulous spa, delicious food and friendly staff it is somewhere everyone should visit. I can't wait to go back!

Average and expensive

We stayed at the Killyhevlin for a wedding at the hotel. Overall, I would describe the hotel as traditional with standard decor, the rooms being furnished in a similar manner, although clean and tidy and the bathrooms may have been recently updated.

We booked some months ahead of the wedding and asked for a quiet room but it became clear late in the evening that we had in fact been given a room directly above the wedding party such that loud music was audible in our room until 0130. I questioned this at 0000 and was told that there were no free rooms available as the hotel was full though I asked why it was that despite asking for a quiet room some months before the hotel was fully booked, we were given perhaps the noisiest room in the hotel - no reply was given to this. It would simply appear that our request was ignored.

The room cost £125 and for the money, is not a good deal at all.
Overall, a fairly average, though clean hotel.

New Year at the Killyhevlin

My wife and I stayed here from 29th December 2006 to 1st January 2007, in order to attend a wedding on the 30th and the Killyhevlin’s New Year’s Eve party on the 31st. We had been once before, but only for dinner.

The hotel is stunningly located on the banks of Lough Erne, about 1.5 miles from the town centre of Enniskillen. Whilst it is not a long distance into town, the road is very busy so probably not suitable for walking. A car or taxi would only take five minutes. Although we didn’t take part, there is plenty to do such as walking, sailing, fishing and golfing.

The room which we had was lovely – it had a part lough view / part garden view and had been recently refurbished to a very high standard. The big bed was comfortable and the heavy curtains completely darkened out the whole room, so we slept really well. The large bathroom was well fitted out. The cleaning staff were mostly Eastern Europeans, and we found them all to be very polite, courteous and hard working. Our friends were also very happy with their rooms, and of the four we were in, none looked alike!

Breakfast was really good – a nice selection of cereals, fruits and breads, then a full Ulster fry, which was served. The breakfast room was very comfortable and there was no pressure to move on.

The reception, bar and restaurant area was buzzing and served good snack food and a gorgeous Sunday carvery lunch. It is also a great place just to relax in, read or enjoy the views. It also tends to get quite busy with locals which can only be a good sign. On this occasion, we didn’t actually eat in the restaurant in the evening as we had meals in the function room with the wedding and the party (both of which were first class).

I used the pool and spa with a couple of mates from the wedding party one morning for a couple of hours and it was very relaxing in the Jacuzzi and the outdoor hot tub – certainly a first for me on New Year’s Eve in Northern Ireland!

For those interested, the New Year’s Eve party was very good fun. There must have been about 300 people there and although it was a little cramped, it was all worth it. The carvery was gorgeous, and the band and disco got a great reception. Drinks were served to the table.

I recommend this hotel highly, and will definitely return.

Great Spa pedicure

I stayed in this hotel two months ago and while thought it was ok and the food edibile I must write about the lovely pedicure i had, It was called jessica delux spa pedicure, it was so relaxing wit heated boots lovely massage, i had all the feet maintaince done too and had a lovely bottle of polish to top up my colour if needed, i've had manny a pedicuer but this 1 was the nicest 1 yet, my therapist was called Juliet, I highly reccomend her, i'll definatly be back to her for this.

A week to remember

Well, I hate to inform some of you, but we loved it.
My future wife and I took it upon ourselves to go and review a number of Hotels, north and south of the border before booking our wedding reception and I must say at the moment the Killyhevlin is head and shoulders above the rest.

I cannot believe that some of the reviews on this site actually put negative comment on the Hotel and its staff.

We have high standards when it comes to travelling in general and that is why we wanted to review potential venues for our reception before we would consider booking.

The location is superb, not many hotels can offer us such a wonderful view from their wedding garden (if they had one). The staff over all where great! I think the fact that some of them have worked there for a long time (more mature) was a key point to our enjoyment, unlike some of the teenagers we have met in other hotels, who don't really care (not all cases).

I really enjoyed the food and probably would have liked a bit more at dinner, but then again I am six foot four. My future wife really enjoyed the food as well but I think the view really added to the occasion.

As for the rooms, have you seen them? We looked at the Hotel on the net first and it was a big reason for us going to visit the Killyhevlin. We don't plan to have alot of people coming to the wedding but we do want every one to have a nice room (the happier my parents are the happier I will be, and the room is always important to them).

I don't really have alot of time to fill in these type of things, but when I read some of the reviews I seriously doubted some of the comments. I urge you (other readers) not to listen to mindless rants, if there is a problem DEAL WITH IT THERE AND THEN, and, don't waste my time wining about it and risk potentially turning others away from a great hotel.

Not Good

Not a 4 star hotel ny any stretch of the imagination. Visited with extended family group. Booked suite which was nice but the service in the hotel from front desk through to bar and restaurant is absolutely appalling. I would recommend you avoid this very over-priced establishment - I for one will not return. Specific problems are too many to count - but believe me there are many! Avoid.

Local Bar's Check out some of the local bars , I especially liked the "Hollow" in Enniskillen.

'Blakes' The Hollow. Definately worth a visit. Friendly and down to earth with decor only surpassed by the Crowne Bar in Belfast.The entertainment is good

The Butter Market Well worth a visit to go to the Butter Market if staying in enniskillen! We bought all our presents in the small craft shops!
