Loved everything about it!!

from A TripAdvisor Member
My partner and I have just got back from a fantastic weekend in Belfast. We stayed at Ten Square after reading about it in the Mr and Mrs Smith book and reading the reviews on Trip Advisor. We contacted the hotel and got a Superior corner room for £109 including breakfast for a Saturday night.

When we arrived we were shown into a really large room, lots of pillows on the bed and a DVD player incase we got bored. The only small problem with the room was it backed onto the bar opposite so it was noisy until about 1am, not a problem if you fancy a drink. Breakfast was great and served until a very decent 1pm on a Sunday!

We ate in the hotel on Sunday afternoon before our flight back and it was fabulous, decent portions and the food was really tasty.

Would definately go back no hesitation.

Love this uber cool hotel!

This is how a boutique hotel should be! Really enjoyed my stay here and the location could not have been better. Also the food in the restaurant was top class! If this hotel is good enough for the Corrs and a gaggle of other celebs, its good enough for me...

Superb Hotel

I have just returned from a stay at the Ten Square hotel in Belfast and I must say that I'm more than impressed. I booked my stay online and had no problems checking in at all. The consierge was a delight and helped me with my luggage and showed me to an extremely spacious room with all the facilities I could need, including a DVD player and selection of movies if I wanted to view them.

I also hired a car while staying in Belfast through a company called Custom Car Hire (-----) who arranged the vehicle for me the same day I requested it. The staff at Ten Square arranged the hire and had all the confirmation details faxed through at no extra charge to myself.

All in all, I would recommend Ten Square to anyone planning a visit to Northern Ireland.

Not as fab as expected, but lifted by service

from A TripAdvisor Member
Stayed here last week for a couple of nights. The hotel has a contemporary style but can be almost plain, especially when compared with the Malmaison. As mentioned some of the cheaper finishes used are starting to look a little tired and chipped and certainly in our room there just wasn't enough furniture!
That said the beds/linen were fab, bathroom was good (with Molton Brown toiletries), we liked the dvd player (handy for a cold and wet Monday afternoon) and the tea making facilies were great (fresh milk and big mugs).

I also paid a lastminute rate and probably wouldn't have been as pleased if I'd paid the full whack.

What really lifted the experience for us was the service from the hotel staff. The barman lent us his personal lighter when we'd forgotten matches and one of the bistro staff suggested an alternate off-menu vegetarian option that the chef would make for me.

charging

Stayed there mid September. Room fab and attention to detail great. Some of the public corridors have soiled carpets and are very dimly lit - but in the scheme of things this does not detract from the cool decor and professional staff. My only issue was that I was charged an additional sum to my credit card, in spite of paying all my charges on departure! This just adds hassle to what was a great stay.

Nothing Special

from J14DTC
This hotel is cartianly not in the luxury band. It is ok - i agree with previous reviews. Room was clean (though decoration was at best average) - am sure when new it was much better but not looking a bit tired, cheap wenge furniture was chiped and please please BEWARE the bedframes - which get you in the shins in the middle of the night!. Bathroom was fine and certainly clean,a good range of hot drinks, room service good, though disappointed to find no fine dining (porcelain restaurant is now closed - only now a very busy grill room and bar). Staff were pleasant. Have to say that this does not match Malaison in decor or facility - nowhere near and believe that it would only be worthwhile if a special rate was obtained - I paid £100 on lastminute - would have been cross to have waisted £185 or more on the 10square website. Bottom line - nothing special, a bit disappointing - don't beleive what you read in the glossies!

Lovely stay

from Tinsman
Well, based on reviews here, my wife and I stayed in this lovely hotel just a week and a half ago. It was delightful. Staff were very courteous, room was nice, bath clean, etc. Maybe we were just lucky, but I did ask at booking for an upper level room on the back of the hotel, which we got. Good thing, we were there on a Saturday night and the bar and restaurant were hopping. Bar was so loud that conversation was difficult, but folks were most pleasant. Dinner was a pleasant surprise too. Fortunately, we visited before the latest troubles, but we loved Belfast, its people, and this quirky hotel.

Good but not amazing

from Sunny78
After reading the reviews on this site I was v excited about staying here and expected opulent luxury! However, all I can say is that it's an OK hotel, but thats about it. The bed was huge and v comfortable but the rest of the room was a bit sparse in decoration ... a painting or picture wouldn't have gone amiss. On closer inspection the bathroom led a lot to be desired, with a dirty shower curtain that smelt of mildew and the shower head and tiles on the wall needed to be scrubbed as they were clogged with limescale! The water pressure was very low in the shower and on one occassion it stopped working completely! I was looking forward to the huge bath which previous posts have said is big enough for two, but it is no larger than your average bath and I wouldn't have actually fancied sitting in it due to the stale smell and stains! However, they do provide a good range of Molton Brown goodies which is a nice touch.

Our DVD player in the room wasn't working properly and every single light blew in the main room and didn't work when we switched them on after returning to the room at night. As we were checking out the next day we don't know how quickly this problem was resolved.

I found the girl on reception when checking in and the waitresses in the restaurant in the evening to be very pleasant and helpful. However, on checking out and having breakfast the next morning the male receptionist and waiter had a very unpleasant and agressive attitude and accused us of not paying for things when we had! Their aggressive and accussing manner spoiled things slightly. They didn't apologise and blamed another member of staff who wasn't there for their mistake.

I imagine that when this hotel opened it was viewed as luxurious and 'the' place to stay. However, it would seem that it has gotten a little complacent and the staff a little 'up' themselves in their attitude. They (mainly the male staff) acted as if we should be gratetful to be staying there when in fact we're the paying customer and have actually stayed in much nicer, trendier places with better service!

Drop the attitude, pay attention to the finer details and I would return - though only on a special rate and not full price.

Watch for extra charges!

from A TripAdvisor Member
I stayed at Ten Square on business and would agree entirely that the hotel is comfortable and well located but certainly not 'luxury boutique' as some would describe. My stay went uneventfully until I received my credit card statement containing additional mini-bar charges despite my honest declaration at check-out. The hostile reception received from the aggressive member of staff when I queried the spurious costs totally ruined my experience. In three words? Pretentious without cause.

OK but not exceptional

from seattlecandice
There were days when the hot water was not on... Days when they forgot to make the room... Days when the Internet didn't work (which mattered since it was business travel)... I don't remember all of the details but I'm sure they will come out in therapy...
