Very disappointed

The location of this hotel is great, but I think they focus to much on the location as a selling point and don't focus enough on customer service.

All the service I received at this hotel, except for some of the breakfast staff, was terrible.

A couple of my collegues and myself stayed here while working in Belfast and between us we have too many stories to be able to cover all of them, so will include a selection.

On our first night I noticed that there was no hotel information in the room, so I went to the desk to ask if they had any, and the person at the reception said, just ask me. She rattled off a few opening times and then I asked her how much a phone call would cost. She said she didn't know and that was that. I said that she must know since hotel charged the rates, and she told me to call BT. I ended up just walking away.

A collegue of mine could not get calls put through to his room. His partner tried 8 times one night and ended up giving up. He also found used tissues in his room when he moved his single beds together.

The stories just go on and on.

In no way did I feel welcome at this hotel.

This hotel has an enormous potential if they just focused a bit more on their customer service.

If I had a choice I would not stay there again.

The first week I stayed in the holiday inn it was great, the meals were fab and the service was fast and efficient. The room was clean and I had no complaints. i found out i'd be in Belfast on business for longer than expected so we booked the holiday inn for the next 2 weeks. The service went downhill from then, when I checked in my bed was covered in hairs pillow... duvet.. everything. I complained and asked them to resolve the problem then went to work, when I returned 7 hrs later still nothing had been done. it took them a further 30 mins after a 2nd complaint to change my sheets and duvet. Also when I went to take a glass of water 1 glass was cracked the other was dirty and my bin bag full of rubbish was lying on top of my toiletry bag in my bathroom. There was also a different head waitor on in the restaurant who was rather cheeky to me. I had such high hopes after a brilliant stay in my first week but I will now be staying in the europa this week as the holiday inn let me down.

Room good value - everything else a rip-off

One couldn't quibble with the room price in this hotel. Three of us payed £74 for an adequate twin bedded room with foldaway bed (for our 15-year old daughter). However, the room price is where our enthusiasm ends! Service at reception and in the dining room was unsmiling and charmless. The bathroom was spartan - no toiletries whateover apart from a plastic soap dispenser and a box of tissues. Much worse, however, was the rip-off pricing of everything other than the room. One of the reasons we selected the hotel was the in-room movie facility, as our daughter was going to be staying on her own while we went to a business dinner. When we paid the bill, one of the items was a £17 charge for the two (not very recent) films that she watched! An inedible breakfast with undrinkable coffee cost £14 per person. Stay there only if you are spending minimal time in the hotel.

Just spent a night at the Holiday Inn, very clean and well-kept. However, had specifically requested a double bed and told that there was no problem, even checked up the day in advance and was told no problem. Checked in around 11.30am and was allocated a twin room. Reception would do nothing to help, saying that the hotel was full but as we had checked in early I couldn't understand why they couldn't have swapped our room with someone else's seeing as we were there early. There was absolutley no help at all and just got a shrug of the shoulders. Not v good or professional in my book especially as I had specifically called the day before. Rooms are v modern, but the revellers kept us awake roaring and shouting in the hallways around 3am. Breakfast good, always like buffet breakfasts, in general I think the receptionists need to be a bit more helpful, people expect to get what they pay for, and not have a snotty response when there's a query.

I have stayed at this hotel on many occasions over the last few years - i have always had a good experience. I agree with others that the front desk staff are particularly poor, i dont think in any hotel i have experience staff that are less interested in thier job, and hospitality skills - they do however get the job done, that said, done with a smile and a bit of warmth would be a massive imporvement. aside from the that this is an excellent hotel. rooms are fantasitc - particulalry the executive rooms, modern, very well equiped and very clean. Location is fantasic with all of belfast in walking distance.

Stay in hotels quite a bit with my job and to be honest I wasn't sure what this property would be like.

Have to say if you're looking for very comfortable modern and clean overnight accommodation you just won't go wrong at this hotel.

Only let down were the staff who I'm sorry for saying this as I am a Belfast Man but they had a typical Belfast couldn't care less attitude although I must say the guy supervising breakfast was very attentive and a credit to the hotel.

If you're looking for luxury with extra touches it may be best to opt for a boutique property.

Room was a standard double, yeah some mould around the bath but so what I couldn't have faulted the room at all, hard as I tried and the playstaion is a great
added touch and the room service menu is very good
well priced and plenty to choose from.

I had my wedding in the hotel in September and cannot praise the hotel staff enough – they were absolutely brilliant – especially Gary who was wonderful!. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel itself is very modern and the rooms are beautifully decorated in a contemporary style. Bed was very comfortable and the power shower was excellent. The food we had for dinner was delicious and the next morning was even better - breakfast is definitely the nicest I have had in all the many hotels I have stayed in - freshly prepared food with the finest ingredients and lots to choose from. Many of our guests stayed at the hotel the night of the wedding and everyone agreed with us that the standard of the hotel was first class. It was so impressive that my husband and I made a weekend out of it and stayed for two nights. The staff at reception were extremely helpful and the bar staff were also very pleasant and polite. The leisure facilities are top notch – again of a modern and contemporary design. Although the hotel is very close to where we live we will definitely stay at it again – looking forward to our first anniversary!

My husband and I stayed at this hotel and found it very sufficient for our needs at a reasonable price. Room was on the small side, but had a foyer upon entering the room. It very clean with very modern decor. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom was adequate with one of the showers doors that don't really help block water from getting on the floor. Our room was located on the back side of the hotel overlooking a bar across the street which provided endless entertainment - fights - police. However, we were never disturbed by any noise. Ate at their restaurant and I must say their salmon was excellent. Location was excellent - walked to everything.

We actually had a "minor" incident with our rental car while at this hotel. We had to park on the street as there is no parking garage. Some one firebombed our rental overnight. When we discovered it the next morning, we alerted the hotel staff and they advised that the police had already been out and gave us the information we needed. They were very apologetic and helpful with this ordeal. They allowed us to make our long distance calls to our credit card company to report the loss and to the insurance adjuster and rental car company. They did not charge us for any long distance calls and they even offered a free night stay - which we did not take as we were leaving that day to head west anyway - so they applied it to one of our nights. They paid for a taxi to the airport so we could obtain another rental. All in all, something that could have been very stressful - was not too bad. Took about 3 hours to handle - then we were on our way. They went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of us. It didn't ruin our trip in the least.

I must say though, we felt much safer in Belfast than Dublin - which seemed a bit seedier..

Fantastic Value

We stayed there for just one night and got a rate of £89 including breakfast for two.

The room we were allocated was an executive room and was fabulous. Lovely comfortable bed, playstation games available on the tv (at an extra £5 charge), mini bar, good deep bath and gorgeous decor. The breakfast the next morning wasn't the best ever but compares well to most hotel breakfasts I've had.

We visited the pool for a while too, enjoying the jacuzzi and steam room and taking a few leisurely laps of the pool. A perfect wind down.

While the staff were young and, more often than not, chatting amoung themselves, they were very helpful when we were checking in, out and looking for directions.

I'd happily recommend the Holiday Inn and would stay there again.

Ideal location

We've just booked our third stay at the Holiday Inn in Belfast this year. The location of the hotel is fabulous just behind City Hall and within minutes of the clubs and shops. The rooms are generous with all expected amenities of a city centre hotel. The bonus after a hard day shopping, or a hard night partying is the Health Club. I must admit we gave the gym equipment a miss but the sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and pool were very welcome. Even the occasional fall of soft Irish rain was bearable when viewed thrugh the galss roof of the pool!
We found the staff to be generally helpful and polite but unrushed. There are plenty of places to eat serving interantional foods on the road just behind the hotel.

Top Local Tips for Belfast

W5 Fantastic place for children of all ages, and adults. We were queuing up to get in when they opened at 12 and were thrown out at 6. You can wander out to get something to eat in the rest of the Odyssey complex too which was really handy. We went straight to the airport from here and found it convenient that they had large lockers available for £1 (refundable too) Don't miss the shadow screen on the fifth floor and our little ones (age 6 and 3) particularly loved the water play area and the music/stage bits on the second floor.

Taxi Tours of Political West Belfast The best way to see "The Troubles" by far. However, book before you go with a company online - it's easier. The prices between the companies are pretty much the same.
