A bit impersonal
from BridBVery efficient but unfortunately, not very friendly!
from RitabixThe staff member I met at reception when checking in was very efficient , looked great but without one iota of personality. My experience of business stays at similar hotels is that one is usually informed of breakfast times and asked if you would like a newspaper etc when checking in. None of this happend.
My room was very pleasant - I particularly liked the bathroom which had one of the best showers I've experienced. The hospitality tray was disappointing for a hotel of the level, with the usual horrible sachets of instant coffee (even though a proper plunger coffee pot was provided). A flat tv screen was mounted on the wall, however I couldnt get the digital channels to work and the instruction leaflet wasn't much help. The bedlinen was ultra cosy and bed really comfortable.
Breakfast, a self service buffet was plentiful but not very hot and not great quality. The staff all seemed preoccupied with no one directing you to a table - I had to ask where to get a cup of coffee.
The foyer is very spacious but also very draughty and the nice open fire doesnt really make any difference due to the size of the space.
Checking out, coincidentally I met with the same member of staff who checked me in the day before. Again efficient but brusk - she gave me an almost embarrassed smile as we waited for my credit card to clear. Can someone please tell them to share something of their personality to the customers!!

from mb3We stayed in a non-smoking executive room,as it was our birthday's,and payed the extra £20 for the privilage.
On arrival the staff were very helpful, and asked if i needed my car parked.I didn't, as i had already parked it in the car park behind the hotel. The last time i had stayed at the Europa there was a concession for guests of the hotel and parking cost me £10 pounds.
When we went to the room it was very clean and had a king size bed, desk, table chair's.However, there was no mini bar or fridge which i was rather disappointed about as i was staying in an "EXECUTIVE" ROOM.however, it was large and well decorated.
We went to see the show at the Opera house which is next door, and the main reason why i chose to stay at the Europa.
The opera house building is a beautiful theatre, and has a very intimate atmosphere.
Following the show we returned to the hotel and asked the doorman to order a taxi, this came very quickly. We where going to a restaurant known as Scalini's .
Scalini's is an Italian restaurant 10 minutes away from the hotel. You only need to book if there are more than 8 in the group.
We arrived around 8pm and there was a que. However, we where seated by 8.30.
The decor and atmosphere is very nice, as are the staff. The menu is quite broad, to suit most tastes, the prices are reasonable and the food is not bad either.
We then returned to the hotel by taxi and spent some time in the residents bar.It was busy and had a good atmosphere.
We had ordered breakfast for the following morning by using an order form which you hang on the outside handle of your room door the previous night.
The following morning I asked room service to bring a jug of water to the room, that was at 9am,I had to contact them 3 times before i got it, 1 hour later, there was no apology when it did arrive.
breakfast arrived a short time later,it was on time, but was not very hot.Breakfast Room service cost £10."Too much"
When we checked out I then discovered that the arrangement for parking was no longer available.parking cost £18."Too much"
We enjoyed our night at the Europa but those little things could have made it a brilliant night.
Not if they paid me for staying!!!!!
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe safe and CD player did not work. I rang reception straight away but nothing got done about it.
I rang housekeeping, who never seem to answer their phone, got a message saying ring reception. I rang reception at 12o'clock and asked for some coffee and milk in my room. Nothing!! Rang again an hour later and told them i already rang an hour ago, still nothing!!!!
Another hour later the maid knocked and asked me if i wanted my room cleaned. She got me some coffee and milk...Only took three hours!!!!
While the room was very clean, i must admit the staff were arrogant, rude and almost slammed the phone down when you had a request.
And to top it all....i paid my bill in cash when i checked out yet they still charged my credit card...I've been trying for two days now to get my money back..i keep ringing them...you've guessed it....they never ring back. Oh yes, nearly forgot, the staff also decided to wake me up at 2300hrs to pick up a tray out of my room..that went down very well..NOT.
If you don't mind grumpy, rude, arrogant staff and made feel like a burden then this hotel might be for you.
I won't go anywhere near the Europa again if they paid me to stay there!!!
Excellent Hotel
from A TripAdvisor Membergood hotel
from akkadeit has been renovated very recently and it is modern, clean with good bathrooms and good sized ths. there was a problem with room service which took an hour to arrive and gave me something which i didn't order. the next day the receptionist had no roblems about taking it off the bill. breakfast was a buffet, standard stuff and very busy but i have yet to stay anywhere with an outstanding breakfast. i would recommend the europa. it has a great location, close to the shops and right beside the opera house.
Highly recommended
from NYCAlarmGalWhat a fantastic time I had. Having arrived early the staff were so nice & prepared a room as fast as possible. The concierge went above & beyond organizing a Private tour of Belfast for me and gave wonderful tips about the area. The room was gorgeous, & having stayed in all types of hotels due to my business, this was chock full of extra ammenities. The Breakfast was fantastic one of the best I've had in my travels and the unique history of this hotel made it even more grand. Great Bar/Live Music adajacent to the lobby & all the necessities just outside the door. Would absolutely recommend & stay again.
Top Local Tips for Belfast
open top bus tour take the tour, it costs £10 but tickets last 24 hours, do get off at shankill road and wander through to falls road, taking in the wall murals. After all their troubles the locals are so friendly
Open-top bus tour Hop-on & off for 24 hours for £10 ticket. Do the whole tour first to get your bearings.Witty & informative commentary.See the Titanic docks, Crumlin Road gaol, Falls Road & Shankill Road murals from the times of 'the troubles'
Getting Around Comfortable, mostly scenic 2 hr. train ride from Dublin. Belfast station much nicer than on previous visit-clean, not crowded, helpful staff. Satisfaction with Black Taxi Tours depends alot on driver - one was fantastic, not so lucky last time. Unable to use bus service as the times were not compatible.
