Great weekend - would definately recommend

I stayed in Benedicts last weekend and just felt I had to leave a quick message to say thanks to all the excellent staff and let other trip advisor users know that its in my opinion the best place to stay in Belfast. I hadnt been to Belfast in over a year and when I decided to go back, I had to book Benedicts. The last time I was here was almost a year ago and it was equally as good then too. The rooms have been redecorated and redesigned since last year and theyre now even better than before. We had a meal in the restaurant and quite a few drinks in the bar and had a thoroughly enjoyable couple of days. Staff were all great and food and drink both reasonably priced. The girls are alright too - there was a Scottish hen party stainyin when we were there.

But.....

Stayed last weekend with the boys from Glasgow
Great location , great nightlife , and the staff really made it special.
The executive suites with the spa baths really put the bubbles in all the right places.
I would recomend it to anybody.

Whats not to love about Belfast!

Just back from a girls weekend in Belfast and I couldn't praise the hotel and staff enough. Well worth the money the rooms were really nice and clean {executive suite} The bar is amazing live irish band on the sunday afternoon just set the atmosphere. None of us wanted to come home!!! Thanks to all the staff for a great time. See yous all soon!!!!

Poor Standards

I was supposed to stay here for 2 nights but had to check out after 1 as the hotel was so bad. It smelled horrible probably due to the multiple hot food outlets surrounding it which also made it very noisy. The staff were indifferent to any complaints. The room was below average and not serviced properly (many broken items). Certainly wouldn't stay again and wouldn't recommend it.

We stayed there for two days in May and were extremely satisfied with the excellent service and the room.

Breakfast was fine. In the evening, if you have dinner at the hotel, you will be completely involved in the Irish world.

THIS IS DEFINITELY A PLACE TO STAY.

Great value

We stayed three nights in Benedict's during a two week holiday in Ireland, and gave it top marks for value. The rooms and bathrooms were spacious, the hotel location was great for the things we wanted to do, and the hotel staff were all courteous and helpful. Breakfast was excellent for both choice and quality. The restaurant food is very good, and the "early bird special prices" make it probably the best value in Belfast. I say "probably" because we found the combination of value and food quality to be irresistable and did not eat dinner anywhere else!

Should we have the fortune to visit Belfast again, we will surely try to stay at Benedict's.

choose to stay in bededicts after all the good reviews it got on tripadvisor. stayed in an executive room and ok the bedroom was lovely, very modern with hugh bed, cd player, wooden floors. the first thing that struck us when entering the bedroom was an unpleasant smell which we discovered originated in the bathroom in the form of the so called jacussi bath which was just a normal sized bath. i had to go about spraying perfume to disguise the smell. the shower curtain was pure filthy and was covered in hairs.the safe didnt work and when we rang reception they sent someone up, who just confirmed that it didnt work and did not try to fix it at all. in addition the remote control for the tv did not work. breakfast was nothing great and you could not get a fried breakfast delivered to the room in the morning just tea,toast and cereal,which we requested on the second morning and it arrived 20 minutes late.the only good thing about it really is the decor, not like your average 3 star hotel. it is in a good location, and you can get a taxi into town for 3 pound. they have a good night club downstairs and good music. expected alot more after all the good reviews so perhaps i had high expectations,but i wouldnt stay here again!

Very funky

This is an interesting place to stay. The executive rooms are very large, plesantly decorated and good value at £75. The CD player is a welcome addition. We found the staff friendly.

The restaurant and bar are buzzing with life and the food is good quality. The meals are a little bit pricey, although if you choose a 'beat the clock' option this brings the cost down a bit - although the most appealing dishes tend not to be on this offer. Breakfast is substantial and included in the room rate.

The location is a blessing and a curse. The hotel is right in the thick of the "Golden Mile" and only a short walk to the City Centre, Botanic, Stranmillis. This location and the popular bar does make it very noisy at a weekend - the bar is definately not the place for a quite drink then. When we came back to the hotel at midnight on a Saturday the street outside was filled with emotional binge drinking young people. And they seem to employ someone with the sole purpose of hosing down the pavement the next morning. Ask for a room at the back or on the top floor if you are a light sleeper.

Overall, in our view, much more fun, less claustrophobic and better value than staying in a national chain hotel.

Friendliest Staff Ever!

I have just returned from a weekend in Belfast staying in Benedicts, fantastic hotel, elegant surroundings with a gothic feel. Check out the wall paintings whilst having breakfast! The resturant food was excellent with a great choice, and then there is a lively bar to sip the guiness in! The rooms are more than adequate, however very warm, and in certain rooms the disco can be heard. The staff were freindly and more than helpful, and managed to get 7 of us a personal taxi tour of Belfast (highly recommended) This is the second time I have stayed in Benedicts and definitely would stay again.

Just arrived back from a weekend staying at Benedicts and can't wait to go back. We stayed in an executive room and it certainly lived up to its name. Lovely decorated, comfy bed, fab widescreen tv, bathroom was very clean and modern.... The best thing about the hotel though was the staff. From the day i called to book the room the staff have been fantastic, so helpful and efficient. They organised car hire for us too. More than happy to look after your cases before check in / after check out. So much politer and friendlier than any other hotel i have ever stayed in.
The breakfast was also fantastic, choose from 4 cereals, toast, fruit salad, yougurts and of course the full irish cooked breakfast. I had one of these 3 days running and am sure i've put loads of weight on but it was worth it as really was cooked to perfection. Again the restaurant staff were extremely friendly suggesting places to visit whilst in Belfast.
We also ate in the restaurant on Mothers Day though didnt arrive til 9pm. Stil they sat us straight down and took our order, it was a set menu for mothers day - what a bargain. The food was presented so well it looked too good to eat but once we tasted it we soon ate more. Will definitely be going back if only to eat in the restaurant again....
The only downside was that it was very noisy due to the bar below but we still managed to get to sleep and had we of had the energy would probably have joined the noisy people in the bar for some good guiness and craic...
Will definitely be going back and would recommend a visit to all.

Top Local Tips for Belfast

Rugby Trip to Ravenhill Basically if your team get drawn against Ulster in the Heinekin Cup get yourself to Belfast and go to the game. Ravenhill as a ground is a little bit run down but the atmosphere is great and the Ulster fans very welcoming. The ground is only about a mile or so from Belfast City Centre and the pubs and nightlife in Belfast are great. Particularly recommend the Empire and the Botanic Inn for good places to go.

Black Taxi Tours Took a Black Taxi Tour around the area of the "Troubles" - Shankill Rd, Falls Rd etc. Very enjoyable and informative guide, who could give a personal insight into growing up during the height of the problems. Took us into areas that we wouldn't have found (or possibly wanted to venture into) ourselves to see the murals. peace wall etc. Even arranged for Gerry Adams to be leaving the Sinn Fein HQ while we were parked outside!! Good value for money at £25 for three of us. Would definately recommend

St.George's market. If you find yourself in Belfast early on a Friday morning, go see this market. You can take a short train journey from the train station on Botanic Avenue just round the corner from Benedict's hotel to Central train station, and the market is very close by. Fruit and vegetables, meat, cakes, cheeses, flowers, household items, bric-a-brac, and an amazing array of the freshest fish - it's a great way to start the day, just wandering about, people-watching.
