We had a brilliant stay, nothing was to much for the staff they bent over backwards too make our stay an enjoyable one (So disappointed that your closed during the week at the end of April becaus we wanted to stay again). The food was excellent too (our steaks were to die for)and we loved go for a drink in the pub adjoining the hotel. Fantastic views from our room (423)across the marina and those glorious open fires. Thanks for everything....

Just arrived back from a weekend staying at the Royal Hotel, was a bit dubious after reading the review saying it was a dump, but was very surprised the Hotel was very clean room service was great rooms were cleaned every day, the staff were absolutly brilliant, couldn't make you feel any more welcome, especially in the residents bar and restaurant. Breakfast was fine only had one evening meal over the weekend and that was fine. Would definatley go back again

What an absolute dump!

The heading refers to the bedrooms, full of dust, torn wallpaper faded carets and musty. We were told we were in a sea view room. just about. This place is in a time warp and they only seem interested in trying to sell week end specials, where the one meal deal works out MORE than B and B and paying for a dinner....Downstairs is ok, a lot of kids serving, and reception staff ok...one of them very pleasant and the other a bit above herself, thinking that this max. two star property is a five star offering..no way....ok for a night if going out on the town, or for stags and hens who want to get out of their minds and do not care where that crash out.....try somewhere else like the Marne court next door....
