Amazing position - but!!

This hotel is in an absolutely unrivalled position at the top of the Shanklin Chine and overlooking the beach. Everything was in perfect decorative order and very expensive materials had been used. However!! Our room had a four-poster bed which was lovely - BUT there was very little room around the bed. Likewise, the bathroom was extremely small. Not sufficient room for two people to pass in the space around the bed! Also only one minute bottle of shower gel was provided on the first day and this was never replenished. ON the first day I asked if I could have a fresh fruit salad for breakfast due to dietary restrictions. I expected this to be ready waiting for me on the second day, but every day I had to repeat my request and always had to wait a very long time for it, many other guests having been served their cooked breakfast before I even got my fruit! We were on a bed and breakfast basis, whilst most other guests were bed, breakfast and evening meal. We like to eat out at different restaurants but chose to eat in the hotel one evening. The menu was quite good but I did not consider this meal to be anything special and certainly would not have liked to eat in every night. A beautiful hotel in unrivalled position but some thought does need to be given to some areas!

For de-stressing breaks, possibly the best hotel I've ever stayed in. The proprietors run a 'house party' type atmosphere that works as no kids are permitted. The vast majority of patrons are returnees or are there on recommendation.
