Terrible Quality Room and Expensive

This is the first review I have submitted largely because I have had nothing to say in the past. However, our experience at this 'hotel' has driven me to share this experience and hopeful help others avoid disappointment. We have travelled widely in the Uk and abroad with and without children and are realistic about accomodation and what constitutes for comfort and value for money.

Good points:
The Hotel is a beautiful period house set in its own grounds with fantastic views over the sea.

Breakfast was very good with more than enough food and choice of options. Great staff too.

Bad points:
Our room (room 14) was extremely small with no views due to high windows and little natural light. The room was up 3 flights of stairs in the loft space. Decor was shabby and the furniture looked like cast offs from a house clearance sale! Our biggest concern was the bed which was very old, creaky and too extremely uncomfortable (even for hardened campers!). With our 14 month old sharing this room with us in her cot there was no space to move around the room! Not a good look!!

A saving grace was that our room was of the on suite rooms but the bathroom was too extremely small and almost unusable.

We found the rates extremely expensive for what we received. £40per person, per night and £16 per night for a child (varies on age of child) was £96 per night for what was arguably the most awful room I have ever stayed in. We didn't see the other rooms but some were not on suite and had shared loo and wash facilities. Rates were not that much lower for these rooms!

Overall, we were very disappointed with this hotel. We had booked almost 9 months in advance and ended up with a room that looked like a poor quality student bedsit. It was just as well we had good weather!!!
