We decided this year we would try the Sandringham hotel for a change as our previous hotel in Sandown for the last 3 years has seriously gone downhill since the recent couple took over 2-3 years ago...well we were so pleased we did go to the Sandrigham Hotel this year and now wish we had visited it sooner.Superb location and stunning views. We had a seaview family room on the top floor for 2 adults and 3 children, the room was large ,modern and modern furnishing with a lovely balcony to sit and have morning coffee. We did not find this hotel old fashioned at all,the entertainment was superb, they have a smashing ballroom and lounge bar with balconies and lots of fun for the children too. Meals were generous portions with good everyday chices of food for all. We had no problems parking and we will be returning. Highly recommended :-)
Will stay again

We have just returned from a 3 night break at this hotel. The food was good and the service was excellent. The situation of the hotel is excellant. However, it very much needs to be updated - well 60s style - the room was nice but the bathroom very dated and no shower - smelt a bit musty. Overall it would not put me off staying there again.

I found this hotel, to be very clean but way too outdated for 2008. Not even to have a simple thing as a shower in the room is very disappointing. The hotel if it wants to keep a good name going needs to seriously spend some well used money on updating this hotel to at least a basic modern day hotel, the deco is far too old fashioned, it was like stepping back to the 1960s for a few days. On the whole, very disappointed with the hotel.
Hotel facilities were fab.

Have just returned from a 6 day stay at the hotel with my husband and 11 year old son. The hotel was more than expected, the indoor pool was great and full size snooker table went down a treat! Location was perfect and so near to all bus stops. We only ate breakfast in the hotel, great choice and dining room over looked the sea. Our only complaint was that there was only a mixer tap shower and to be honest that didn't exactly destroy our holiday!! Loved the atmosphere, open lounge area and live music, will definitely book with this hotel next year again.

As a past client of the sandringham hotel i am exeptionaly pleased with the service i was given and how friendly and helpful the staff were. i would also like to comment on the location...it is beautiful scenery and is in the central of lots of attractions. i found getting round the hotel very easy and not very hard to learn...the restaurant and food was delicious....the bar was a great atmosphere and a very enjoyable social event...the room was amazing i have never had such a spacious and lovely room before in a hotel...on the whole the hotel is the best i have been to on the isle of wight and being a resident just recently on the island.
Disappointed

I was disappointed with the standard of the room allocated having paid extra per night for the balcony. Room 23 we stayed in, the balcony overlooked the dining room. The rooms do not have showers, only bath and mixer tap shower. Unfortunately the mixer tap did not work properly. Complained three times in the week about it and it still did not get resolved. Only good point about the hotel was the food. The food and the service by the many young staff involved were excellent.

Sandown rocks! Sandown is great for families with young children, there's loads to keep them amused. Check out the IOW beaches for fossil hunting, kids will love it!
Eating huge meals for good money There are a load of small restaurants along the sea front and also a few pubs on the outskirts of the town which are great value, with low cost and huge meals.
