Excellent food and friendly staff

I've just come back after a weekend at the Uplands. The staff were friendly and helpful and the good relationship between the manager and staff was very evident. The food was excellent, the room clean and service extremely good.

We have just returned from a very pleasant stay at the Uplands Hotel celebrating our anniversary. The hotel is in a quiet location but not far from town and we found it to be excellent value for money. The food was exceptional and all the staff made our stay special in every contact we had with them. We would recommend this hotel to anybody traveling to Jersey.
Not Quite of the Best

Whilst we could not fault the service given by the staff who were always friendly and courteous we must make the following (regretably adverse) comments. (a) With the exception of the bathroom the accommodation, although spacious enough, was tired. (b) The windows were restricted to about 2-3 inches of opening which on a very hot day and with the absence of any form of air-conditioning could have been most uncomfortable There were no fans available for the bedrooms. (c) Hair driers were not standard in the room but could be supplied by reception. (d) The breakfast was good but we did make the mistake of having dinner in the hotel on one evening - WHICH WAS NOT.
Not well laid out

Not well laid out, half a mile walk (it seemed) from room to reception. No lifts, no bar snacks, expensive evening meal that has to be ordered in advance, very cramped and stuffy room with no air conditioning, window hardly opened at all (by design) adding to the stuffiness, our room faced west and the evening sun turned the room into a sauna. Asked for a fan, but the only one available was in the reception area. Unable to sleep properly due to the heat.
