We booked into this hotel after it was recommended to us by two other people. We had returned to Jersey to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary as our previous visit was our honeymoon. We were actually staying at another hotel but were very disappointed with it and decided we wanted a happy memory for the actual day of our anniversary. The hotel had an immediate inviting ambience that secured us in the knowledge that this was a good hotel. The high standard of cleanliness, tasteful decor, pleasant surroundings and beautiful food encouraged us to want to remain. It was with a very heavy heart that we returned to our other hotel for the rest of our stay.

Could not fault the service or the bedroom. Room 30 can be noisy first thing in the morning due to its location (over looking car park of a small supermarket, hence trucks coming and going)
A Totally relaxing holiday

This hotel was ideally situated being 10 mins from centre of town. The staff could not have been more pleasant and helpful with nothing being too much trouble. The food was excellent and perfectly presented. The premier room was well worth the extra cost and very comfortable.

Situated 10 minutes fromt the town centre, this hotel is charming, its a mix between colonnial and chic and very comfortable.
There is a heated outdoor pool and a great patio area. The food is delicious and the staff are efficient and unobtrusive. All prices are reasonable and it was a pleasure to stay somewhere so unexpectedly nice.

loved the pool

We have just returned from a week stay at the above Hotel, it is newly refurbished to a very high standard. Premier room was lovely, staff excellent, food fantastic, plenty of choice, the dining area was spotless as was the rest of the Hotel, great attention to detail i.e glasses& cuttlery polished to perfection, choice for breakfast was amazing as was dinner. Bar area leading to the outside heated pool was lovely too. Entertainment 2 nights a week in season, there was a magician and an amazing classical guitarist when we were there.
This Hotel only has 3 stars it should have more!!!!!!!!!!!

Some excellent plus points and only a few minor downsides
from SwodRam
The hotel is located a 10 minute stroll from the centre of St Helier and although not easy to find first time it provides its own car parking free of charge.
The main selling point of the hotel is the recent refurbishment which has been completed to standards well above its 3 star rating. We had a premier room which was spacious with a large bathroom and a premier plus room which had a very comfortable large bed, sofa and a few other minor benefits - probably just about worth the extra money.
On a downside, the rooms being without air con were quite warm in the night even though the outside temperatures were not. This would be troublesome during hotter spells. Also once other guests/cleaners start to move around in the mornings it is for whatever reason very loud and does wake you up. Fortunately not a place for lively clientele otherwise would be a major issue.
Breakfasts, cold buffet plus hot breakfast made to order, were quite good despite the staffs lack of attention - you really shouldn't have to keep asking for simple things like forks to eat with and milk to go with your tea and coffee. Did not take evening meal so cannot comment although the restaurant tended to be busy as we left the hotel early evening.
The hotel has an attractive small pool and decked outside area (shame about the weather) which leads into an large bar area - again speed of service bit of minus point so spent very little time in there.
Overall the hotel has some excellent plus points and only a few minor downsides. I would use the hotel again when visiting St Helier.

At 1st after reading reviews on this site about the hotel, we were a bit hesitant at what we were going to find..but our fears/concerns were short lived. Everything about the hotel was excellent and the hotel deserves to be recatagorised to 5*. The food, prices and service were excellent.
Fantastic hotel and brilliantly priced
from NaoCat
This is a great little hotel at an amazing price. I have stayed here on a number of occasions for business but would happily stay here for pleasure. I have also had both types of room and can therefore offer the full range of views!
Firstly, the premier plus rooms are the ones to go for. Definitely at the high end - they are really nicely decorated, with brand new everything, and in nice neutral decor (as is the rest of the hotel) which is both trendy/tasteful and surprisingly female friendly. As a female business traveller I often stay in impersonal male-oriented hotels so I'd definitely recommend this. The premier plus rooms are huge, with a sofa and coffee table and wardrobe so it feels like home. You get a bowl of fruit to welcome you, which was a nice touch. Also it's not that dark wood corporate furniture (though you do get that in the non-premier rooms!).
The non-premier rooms are more basic, with no sofa but the same comfortable beds (they are good on beds), but with a less trendy/modern headboard. In both sorts of rooms you get Molton Brown toiletries which adds a touch of class! And the things you expect are there, like a nifty little flatscreen tv (a less jazzy one in non-premier rooms but still works fine) and coffee-making facilities (tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits).
The common areas are the reception, which is tasteful and modern, and a huge bar looking out onto the pool, and a large restaurant. The restaurant is amazing - they do a different menu of specials every night for a ridiculously low price (£15ish for a 3 course meal!). Winston who works in the restaurant is ace. Some of the waitresses are a bit language-impaired but overall the service is good, if a little harrassed at busy times (tell them you'll be eating if possible). They even made off-menu vegetarian stuff for me when I didn't like the selection. The bar is spacious and nice, though sometimes gets full of old people (depends who's holidaying). There's an entertainer on Thursdays who does magic and so on - seemed to be going down a treat with the oldies!
Another observation is that the staff are very friendly. Bearing in mind this is a small hotel, if you walk down the corridor, the cleaners will all wish you good morning etc - perhaps they have been told to do so but I found that really polite.
There is wireless internet access. The only thing this hotel is missing in terms of creature comforts (in my opinion) would be a gym - I went out running along the sea front which is 5-10 min away, and room service (I could be wrong but I don't think they had this). I would definitely stay here again (and have done on several occasions!) and all our colleagues thought it was great too.

Pristine Hotel
from RobertRSwansea
Unlike previous contributers, we did not have a Premier Room, but can say without hesitation that we couldnt have booked a better standard room anywhere.
One had the feeling that every bit of profit was being ploughed back into maintaining this hotel in its pristine condition.
The expertly presented breakfasts and dinners were a real eye opener and I am sure that, if located on the mainland, this hotel would merit at least an extra star rating.
The hotel was spacious throughout and was a comfortable walk to town, even for us 60yrs plus visitors!
Pleasant, helpful staff and provision of high quality cabaret were a bonus.
Will return in the not too distant future.

Thank you for your comments, 'cabaret' is a generous term for 'entertainer', wouldn't want to mislead anyone! thanks again for taking the trouble to write the review. Neil.
loved the hotel

we have just returned from The Hampshire Hotel. This is the second time we have been and I can only say how good we all found it to be. The Premier room was fantastic and so was the food, which was extremely well priced considering the high standard. The waiter service was excellent, in particular Weston who couldn't do enough for everyone.I would recommend this hotel to any of my friends and look forward to returning there again in the not too distant future.

Loved the premier plus room!

To be honest when I was first booked into the Hampshire I didn't expect that much - I've travelled quite a bit with business before and really felt that larger hotels were often safer bets. However the Hampshire really exceeded my expectations.
From the moment we arrived the staff were friendly and courteous. This is always a plus but the real bonus here was the quality of the room - large, clean, modern, really well designed and with one of the nicest beds I've had the pleasure of laying my head on.
The next plus was the quality of the food for dinner. The renovated hotel has a large new bar and dining room with a different menu each evening - at least while I was there. The food and service was excellent.
Every aspect of my business trip to Jersey was improved by staying in this hotel and I have no hesitation in recommending it to anybody. This may be down to having a Premier Plus room and I'd advise anyone to try and get one of these if possible.

A Hidden Gem

We have just returned from a weekend break at the Hampshire. We had been a little apprehensive after reading negative comments on this site, but found the staff to be fantastically welcoming and the room contemporary and clean. The hotel is now nearing the end of its improvement works, and even the standard rooms are now beautifully finished. The public areas such as the restaurant and bar are tastefully decorated and furnished, and everything looks new and clean. The food is excellent, and the hotel offers a great value 3 course menu in the evenings. Ideally situated to explore St Helier, we will stay again.
