Having read the latest reviews could hardly believe it was the same hotel that we stayed in! We found the staff very polite and very helpful, breakfast excellent and bar prices reasonable - for Jersey! What do some visitors expect - this is rated as a 2star hotel but I have stayed in worse 4star! READ THIS - YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! If you want to be a skinflint and expect luxury you will be disappointed this is good old fashioned value for money at on average 25.00 ea b&b in a hotel!! U cant get a small lodgings for that. I will definitely be staying again in the very near future as will my friends and family.

We have recently returned from a 4 night stay in jersey and we stayed at the Mountview & I find it hard to fault! The staff were very helpful and friendly, we had and an excellent breakfast everyday and enjoyed the bar food on a couple of evenings when we didnt fancy venturing out.. We felt it was excellent value for money and the rooms were very modern and well equipped. We can't wait to go back!

I have stayed here on many occasions, most of them before the refurb. The staff have always been polite and helpful. This is one of the cheaper hotels on the island, but saying that it has just gone through an extensive internal refurb. The rooms are now very comfortable and excellent value for money. Lets just hope the outside looks as good when thats done. The food is average and breakfast is plentiful. There is a problem with parking but you can also park at the rear. This is more of a location problem than anything to do with the staff, and by the way if you have to park elsewhere the staff are able to help with parking permit cards. Give them a try!!
Not for the non walkers

There are just 5 car parking spaces for 37 rooms and you are expected to park in a public car park half a mile away and pay 47p per hour to do so between 8am and 5pm. Although there is a lift for the infirm you have to negotiate 12 very steep stairs up and then 2 down to access it. The dining room is like a school canteen with a black tiled floor and wipe clean tables (no table coverings) and the floor was sticky to walk on for most of our stay. The lounge bar was a tarted-up corridor. The rooms did not have DVD players and hairdryers as advertised in the web site and ours did not even have a towel rail. The food was repetitive and basic. The staff, apart from the breakfast staff, were unhelpful and would not even assist us with our cases even though my husband suffers from COPD and has difficulty breathing. The last straw was returning to find the door to our room unlocked with the master key still in the lock - imagine if this had got into the wrong hands. Take it from me - DON'T GO THERE!

Top Local Tips for Jersey

Choosing the best times... look on at all the up and coming events that are going on.. I only found out after my stay everything is listed on the website and next time I will make sure I come over when there is a good event on..!

Money Saving I would advise to check out the online prices and contact the hotel directly to get the best price. I also found out from the hotel that if you book direct you get allocated the front facing rooms (with a view...)

Getting out and about Don't bother hiring a car, the bus service is great and a day trip ticket costs £6 and covers all buses and routes. The only cab we got from to and from the airport as our hotel was a 10 minute stroll from the bus station.
