I stayed at this Hotel for a week and I found it to be clean and the staff were very helpful. The food was not as good as it should have been. The breakfast was excellent but I cannot say the same for the Dinner which was just about average. On balance I would not stop at this Hotel again.
Couldn't find a fault

All staff pleasant and courteous. Food very good, menu varied each day. The room was spacious and clean, towels changed daily. Would re-visit and would recommend to others. Excellent value for money.
Truly Awful Hotel - Do Not Stay Here!!!

I'll start with the one bit of good news. The breakfasts were excellent and the staff friendly and helpful - though they did insist on placing us next to the clear-up station, despite there being numerous empty tables elsewhere and us having a ten week old baby - who was always asleep at breakfast!
Everything else, though, was truly horrendous - the whole place looks scruffy and worn and apart from the restaurant staff everyone else seemed totally disinterested.
We booked - and paid extra for - a 'sea view' - we got one, but the bed was directly in front of the only sea view window, and the only way to 'see the sea' was to kneel on the bed facing backwards.
The car park is tiny, and you are asked to leave your car keys with reception so they can move your car if necessary - I saw them 'move' another customers car and after seeing that there was no way they were having my car keys!!
Unfortunately, our ferry home was cancelled due to bad weather (not, obviously, the hotel's fault..) and as a result we had to take the longer ten-hour crossing to Portsmouth. This meant we needed to sterlise some bottles for our daughter's feed. We asked the receptionist at the Normandie if we could come back later in the day (after we'd checked out) and borrow a power point plus a kettle of hot water to do this - we had our own steriliser with us. After checking with the Duty Manager (and bearing in mind that we'd been there for four days), the receptionist told us that they would charge us £20 for doing this!!! Needless to say we declined..
Jersey itself is an excellent holiday destination with lots to see and do, and very friendly people. We will be going back in the Summer. We will NOT, though, be staying at the Normandie, though from the look of it, I wouldn't be surprised if it's closed by then anyway...

We chose this hotel which suited our needs exactly....a base...as we planned to be out and about during our 4 day stay and attend the race meeting at Les Landes. The buffet breakfast was better than average and the room clean. The hotel has a car park which is a MUST for those with a car. The staff were courteous and we had no complaints. There were no disturbances. We did not dine or sample the entertainment, We would recommend this hotel for anyone wanting a base. There are several good restaurants within walking distance.
Dirty, drab, and waiting to be closed

The hotel normandie does not look like it does in all the photographs, they must have been taken several years ago. On arrival the reception was very dirty. The stair carpet was so worn it had holes. To be met by a bucket because the roof was leaking does not give a good first impression. The food was very basic but it would not have been as bad if it was served hot!. Our room however was clean and looked out over the sea.I thought in this day and age rooms contained things like hair dryers and mini bars you could borrow a hair dryer but the one i used must have been 10 years old. The leisure complex was very very dirty and was dangerous. The steam room had a broken seat and a light with a broken fitting which made it open to water. VERY DANGEROUS! i did tell the reception this but when we left 4 days later it wa still the same. Lots of other people seemed to have problems with water coming through the ceilings. The hotel needs a total refurbishment. On leaving the hotel the hotel manager and receptionist did not even ask if we had enjoyed our stay or anything. very dissapointed and would not go again.
Do not go there

Stayed for a week on half board, booked independantly. Paid for a sea view, and what a view it was, with windows on two sides of the spacious room, the whole bay was there to see.
Staff were courteous, food was first class particularly the buffet breakfast.
As Jersey is seasonal, evenings are very quiet in all of the local Hotels.
A healthy walk to the bus station gives access to all of Jerseys attractions, for those not up to the walk the 18 service links straight to the town centre, and bus station.

Went to normandie in august 2005 with my wife and had a great holiday. Friendly staff, room was clean and a good size. Big bonus was the food buffet breakfast brill and evening meal was 5 star. Entertianment in hotel was naff but in general Jersey nightlife wot nightlife'. The merton hotel was just around the corner. They had show on 7 nights a week free to enter great. Pub across the road from normandie 2 pound a pint not bad all. All in all: good hotel, good location & good holiday.

We used the swimming pool every day and it must be one of the cleanest pools I've swam in (and as an ex-competitive swimmer I've swam in a lot)- the water clarity was 1st class. Yes you might think it's small but it was plenty big enough for my family to play in and for me to swim a few lengths. I do wish they would put some brighter lights in there, but you get used to it. The bubble pool was fun for all of us and my husband said that the sauna and steam rooms were fine. The gym was small but well equiped and had a large flat-screen tv in there. The leisure facilites do not get busy and we generally had the changing rooms to ourselves. Some locals are leisure members.
The de Normandie is in a great position; cross the road to the beach (but I don't think rooms will get a good view) and one block up to the lovely Howard Davies park and then you're 5 minutes walk to the centre.
I was so pleased we chose this hotel in preferance to others. I had been worried after reading these mixed reviews before we travelled. I cannot understand why these unhappy guests didn't speak to management ang change rooms. I would recommend it to all ages (but maybe not to yuppies) and we had the best Christmas ever there!
