once again, our thanks to john and rebecca for a wonderful welcome.
we have enjoyed a week of relaxation with our daughter, son-in-law, and grandson.
food was good, as always. all staff friendly and nothing is too much trouble.
we look forward to our next visit.

Desperate need of revamp

The owners are very nice people and run a lively friendly bar, but the accomodation is in desperate need of of updating. The rooms have not been decorated in many years, the beds are very old creaky and uncomfortable. You need to run around in the shower to get wet the water flow is that feeble. Three days into our stay our bedding was changed but the sheets were filthy and had obviously come straight from somebody elses bed !!!!! Our towels were not changed at all during our stay and smelled by the end of the week and the rooms in general are in need of a good basic clean as are the bathrooms. Breakfast was ok but, very limited choice and certain items unavailable, eg only allowed beans with your egg and bacon twice a week.

The guest house staff are very friendly but the accommodation is in need of serious upgrading. The bed was very uncomfortable and rooms sparse, although clean. Breakfast was limited to half an hour and the cafe food was all cooked from frozen. Bar was very expensive £3 a bottle of Bud! We paid £74 per night which we thought was over priced.

My partner & I have stayed at De L'Tang on three occasions,during the last three years, & each time we have been made very welcome,& had a pleasent stay. We have had good meals, both at breakfast & evenings. The rooms are basic but well kept, with everything we needed. The second visit we had our 16 year old Grandson with us & our recent visit we had two Grandchildren with us. The owners made sure our rooms were next to the children, as requested.
There is no way we would have returned for the second or third time if we had not been comfortable.

Avoid at all costs

De L'etang is without doubt the most miserable B&B experience I have ever had. We were greated by the wise cracking proprieter who insisted for a full five minutes that we couldn't have the room because we hadn't brought a receipt. Hilarious.
Then came the onslaught of the room itself. Smelling deepy musty and with an atmosphere only marginally nore uplifting than Auschwitz on a rainy day the accomodation here is truly awful. The rooms have not been decorated since circa '74 and the "shower" is a trickle of water that would not grace most urinals.
The "bed" is covered in luminous pink cotton and the velvet effect head boards are stained with a quarter of a century's worth of grime and dust. The "breakfast" lives up to the expectations set above. This place is simply the pits. Avoid it all costs.
