We have had holidays in Jersey before and stayed at some great places, but I must say this hotel was alright but not great. Our bedroom was a bit disapointing with some holes in the bedding, wallpaper coming off the walls and a shower/tap which took ages for any hot water to appear. We had breakfast which was not very filling (a fried breakfast was one sausage, one egg and one rasher of bacon), we only had the evening meal once which was very nice. The staff very very friendly and helpful and the hotel public areas were nice a clean and there was plenty of parking space in their car park.

A really nice hotel, lots of food, the waiters and especially the bar man were brilliant. All very kind and made youfeel very welcome. The swimming pool was cold but then so was the weather! The rooms were plenty big enough and you had tea adn coffee making facilitiies as well as a hair drier. We had a lovely time and came back fatter than we went!

After readuing the previous review, think they must have stayed in a different hotel! Staff all very friendly, hotel clean and comfy, food plentiful and overall a lovely time. The only thing we would have changed would have been the weather or if we couldnt change that make the pool indoor and heated!

We paid £71 pr/pn B&B. They say you get what you pay for - well in that case we paid too much!!

Don't be taken in by the photos on the website. I would guess that they were taken 20 years ago and the decor and furnishings haven't been updated since. I'm intrigued by the photo of the pool area as the pool is in fact surrounded by 8-10ft high fencing covered in virginia creeper or something like it. No countryside view from pool as apart from the fencing, the hotel is now surrounded by houses (probably built in the last 5 years or so). Public areas probably have had a fresh coat of paint, but as to the bedrooms that is another matter. Once you get on to the 1st floor where the bedrooms begin, you are met by a kind of "stale" smell. The ensuite facilities consisted of a rather ageing shower with screen that slides halfway across so you squeeze yourself into it, then there is a fixed shower head. Water pressure and temperature is dependent on whoever else is running water in the hotel at the same time. Despite there being vinyl flooring in the toilet area, the area smelt of stale urine and the cobweb remained throughout our stay. Towels would be good for exfoliating purposes only - or perhaps sanding too.

The mattress was definitely ageing and suffering from "roll together". All 4 pillows were limp and the bedding was thin and faded. I don't know what TV reception is like normally in Jersey, but our rather aged TV was only equipped with 4 channels: BBC1,2,ITV and C4.

Don't expect much for breakfast. Everything is done on the cheap. The biggest cooked breakfast consists of 1 egg, 1 slice of bacon (whole if you're lucky), 1 very, very, cheap sausage, 1 tinned tomato, 1 spoonful of baked beans. In addition to this you can help yourself to one selection from cornflakes, bran flakes, rice crispies, weetabix, prunes, grapefruit segments. A small glass is provided for juice - either apple, orange, cranberry - all again the cheapest watered down variety - but this is whisked away as soon as you've drunk it. You can have a pot of tea or coffee - but don't ask for decaf - they don't cater for "special diets".

The staff are pleasant and seem to all originate from "outside the UK" - can't help but be cynical and think they employ on the cheap - particularly as they suggest a percentage in terms of the tip you might want to give your waiting staff and a different percentage tip for your maid staff.

You are asked to leave your keys on reception when you go out, but it was worrying to see that all the keys are hung on a board next to reception and there is seldom anyone on reception - so in effect you can take anyone's keys and no one would notice.

The car park is located beside the swimming pool area to the side of the hotel and is a small stoney area. Most people had hired cars, which would be recommended as you are quite a way from shops/pubs/restauarants etc. (You could always try the evening meal selection at the hotel if you are desperate - but we wouldn't recommend it).

Overall - this is a very disappointing hotel. I can't imagine it would ever attract a star rating, but would benefit from a visit from the tv programme "The Hotel Inspector" - she would have a lot to say. Jersey - this hotel is letting you down.
