This is our 6th consecutive year holidaying in Guernsey, and our second staying at The Wayside Cheer. What can we say? Fantastic. The rooms were always spotlessly clean, but since being refurbished, it's like a home from home, especially now there are showers in the bathrooms. The staff welcome you with open arms and you truly feel like you're part of an extended family. We've made some good friends through staying here, not just with other holiday makers, but with the locals as well. We have offered to take our children abroad but they always no. They just want to keep coming back here. What more of a recommendation do you need? We will definitely be returning!

Even Better Than Last Year - Wow!

We went back to the Wayside Cheer Hotel because we had such a great time last May. We knew the improvements were being done, but did not really expect them to be finished. Our room was a Chalet overlooking the Garden and Pool. We stayed in the hotel last time, but had looked at a chalet while there. Wow what a difference. Totally redecorated and transformed. Newly tiled bathroom, all furniture, carpets,cutains etc renewed and the new bed was so comfy. We were shown the rooms in the hotel and they have also been re-furbished. Unless you are used to 4 stars, The Wayside will meet your needs perfectly. The food is as good as it gets anywhere and the staff are so helpful, and the regular locals are so friendly. We booked a B & B, but used the restaurant and bar for most of our meals as the choice was excellent, ranging from Bangers and Mash to Lobster therador, or cod and Chips to the most wondeful steaks and ribs. Fantastic Place, Wonderful Food, Great Room & Fabulous Location

Where can I start? Having never been to Guernsey before we by chance picked on The Wayside Cheer Hotel. We chose well and can honestly say that everyone (and the hotel was full) was also having a ball. To be honest most of the guests were a little older than us but we fitted in well and met new friends while we were there. Several of the guests seem to go more than once a year and meet up at The Wayside. The food was Wonderful, we were half board and had a different menu every night, sometimes there was fresh local fish on the menu which we enjoyed. Breakfast was good and set us up for the day, we hired a car and saw most of the island which some of the views were breathtaking and we were blessed with great weather. All the staff could not do enough for us and we were well taken care of. After a drive around we returned at about 4 some days to spend time around and in the pool. The Best 2 Star By Far

Having stayed in many 2, 3 and 4 star hotels we have had many suprises over the years some good and some bad but this was one of the pleasant ones. Being February we decided to take a short break and chose The Wayside Cheer Hotel in Guernsey, it was quiet because of the time of year but the hotel has a good local trade and has live entertainment at the weekend even in the winter which we enjoyed. The room was excellent and obviously all new as I believe the others are. The food was as good as we have had anywhere even some 4 star hotels. The staff are brilliant and really make you feel welcome so do the locals. We have already booked to go back and see more of Guernsey next time in the sunshine (hopefully) in July. We really think we found a gem with the Wayside Cheer Hotel and are so glad decided to take a break.

Best Holiday For Years

Having been all around the world we decided to have a short break in Guernsey. I had read other reviews and decided to try the Wayside Cheer Hotel, it turned our to be a good decision. The price was very reasonable and the room was much better than expected, not very big but all new furniture and a very comfortable bed. The food breakfast and evening meals were as good as I have had anywhere and the service very friendly, We spent several nights in the bar as there was entertainment on which was excellent. We had a hire car which was booked for us by the hotel at a very good rate, but there is a good bus service nearby. Thank you Paul, Donna and all the staff for a wonderful time SEE YA SOON
