Great Food and Hospitality
Walked in and was greeted with a friendly smile, that was a good start.
Checked in as was shown around the hotels facilities and taken to our room, which was very homey and clean. Asked if we were dining (as we were booked B & B) and decided to eat at the hotel.
Food was spot on and deciding between a 16oz T/Bone and a 22oz Ribeye was a real challenge so had the T/Bone that night and it was so good had the Ribeye the next night, both were cooked as I liked which is unusual in most places as I like it quite rare. Spent a few days on the Sandy Beach across the road and around the pool.
Also many evenings in the bar, this has a great atmosphere, and saw some great local acts. Would go back again in a flash.

Great Short Break
We needed a short break and decided to visit Guernsey for the first time, a short flight from Gatwick and we were there, we collected our Hire Car at the airport and arrived at The Wayside Cheer Hotel about 20 mins later.
Check in was faultless and we were shown to our room, as we walked through the Tudor Style Bar you could feel the atmosphere of a friendly place which we were to enjoy later.
The room was a nice size and you could tell had been upgraded recently the bed was very comfortable and the room had ensuite bathroom TV and Tea/Coffee making facilities.
We went for a walk and the pool and garden was nice but the weather was too cold to use that, across the road was a lovely beach and we walked to the headland, It must look lovely in the summer.
For those who like walking there are some nice walks around the area.
The food at the hotel is much better than you would expect for a 2 star hotel and the prices very reasonable, in fact they had a promotion which seemed ...Read more

Just excellent all round
We have been staying at the Wayside Cheer twice a year for the last 4/5 years. We have one holiday with our foster children, and one where we bring our elderly disabled parents. We can truly say that Donna Paul and there great team of staff can cater for every visitor to their hotel whatever their need or disability. Coming to the Wayside cheer feels like coming home, and we are always welcomed with open arms. The food is exceptional and the rooms are very comfortable and very clean. The refurbishments have made what what a lovely place to stay even better. The pool is loved by all ages and well used. Our foster children have made many friends staying at the Wayside Cheer. Can't wait to see you all at the Wayside Cheer again next week!

Wow!!!
This is our 6th consecutive year holidaying in Guernsey, and our second staying at The Wayside Cheer. What can we say? Fantastic. The rooms were always spotlessly clean, but since being refurbished, it's like a home from home, especially now there are showers in the bathrooms. The staff welcome you with open arms and you truly feel like you're part of an extended family. We've made some good friends through staying here, not just with other holiday makers, but with the locals as well. We have offered to take our children abroad but they always no. They just want to keep coming back here. What more of a recommendation do you need? We will definitely be returning!

Even Better Than Last Year - Wow!
We went back to the Wayside Cheer Hotel because we had such a great time last May. We knew the improvements were being done, but did not really expect them to be finished. Our room was a Chalet overlooking the Garden and Pool. We stayed in the hotel last time, but had looked at a chalet while there. Wow what a difference. Totally redecorated and transformed. Newly tiled bathroom, all furniture, carpets, cutains etc renewed and the new bed was so comfy.
We were shown the rooms in the hotel and they have also been re-furbished. Unless you are used to 4 stars, The Wayside will meet your needs perfectly. The food is as good as it gets anywhere and the staff are so helpful, and the regular locals are so friendly. We booked a B & B, but used the restaurant and bar for most of our meals as the choice was excellent, ranging from Bangers and Mash to Lobster therador, or cod and Chips to the most wondeful steaks and ribs. Every day there are special local dishes as well as the regular menu. The ...Read more
