My weeks stay was awful. The room was dirty. The light bulbs around the mirror needed replacing. The room was noisy with every 5 minutes or so hearing a plane land or traffic pass. The curtains were coming off their curtain rings/hooks and the bathroom had chipped paint and a cracked mirror. Very disappointed!

My husband and I stayed over for xmas new year break, staff were friendly and in the festive spirit no long faces, present from santa on xmas day was a lovely touch. Food excellent, rooms comfortable & clean. Very handy for buses and outings were organised by hotel. We'll be back

When we arrived, we were made most welcome by a friendly and efficient staff. The room was fine and the food was excellent. (and not too expensive.) The hotel was clean and warm.
So, despite what other people say, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will certainly return in the not too distant future.

Rooms filthy staff mostly migrants - rude and unhelpful, as is the owner. Food made us ill. Stench in lift unbearable. Planes noise far worse than we had anticipated - hotel full of dss and contractors - manager more interested in catering for them than holidaymakers. He actually said so. Pool unusable. Don't go there!!!

We arrived at this hotel quite late (9.15pm) as our flight was very delayed. Even so, we were welcomed warmly by the staff and invited to order food and drinks in the restaurant. For the cost the hotel represented excellent value for money. The rooms were very comfortable and well equipped (our bathroom -ensuite of course- was extremely clean and decorated to a good standard) .At dinner, the choice and quality of food, as well as the service from the staff, was very good indeed- we were able to order from a selection of menus: bar, restaurant and seafood and my only suggestion would be to vary the background music at dinner. Breakfast was excellent. We saw the two pools being cleaned and children enjoying the smaller (heated) pool- though we weren't bold enough to enter either ourselves; the weather, although warm, was not yet warm enough for oudoor swimming we felt! The location was great- so easy to get to the lovely bays in the area as well as into town. The hotel is quite close to the airport, so planes can be seen and heard flying over but we did not hear any in the night or too early in the morning and, anyway, the island is so small, very many hotels will suffer much the same I should think. Guernsey is lovely and overall we had a wonderful time.

At first my sister and I did not want to bring in our bags and on seeing our room did not want to remain. Unfortunately we could not move to the Trelade down the road so we were given a room on the 1st floor. The view from our room was a car park and scrubland plus dilapidated outbuildings. The furniture and curtains had seen better days. The smell in the lift was gagging. The corridors were badly lit and the amenities advertised were non existent ie. the swimming pools, which were full of black, stagnant water. The sign in front of the hotel which was Ashley Courtenay and Egon Ronay reccommended was obviously a decade out of date. When we told locals the name of our hotel they were astonished that we would be staying in that dump ,dive etc.At night the hotel was full of guests, who were workman. They watched football in the lounge restaurant each evening and one night we counted 28 men in very casual dress; this alsoincluded the local DSS people staying there semi permanently. We dreaded returning each evening but on a brighter note it got us out early and back latemaking the most of our holiday.

Plane noise expected the Hotel being just down the road, but small airport short runway means lighter aircraft, less noise shorter hours of operation to the big airports.

Hotel did NOT have swimming pools in use, empty and looks as if this has been the case for quite a long time!

Hotel was clean in general, although the mattress on the bed was badly stained which was not something one expects these days. It was only noticed when we packed up to leave the Hotel.

The food is pretty good, dining room staff were the most pleasant people you could wish to meet and the Latvian girls knew their job to perfection.

The Hotel could do with a more friendly approach to guests by the Reception Staff and maybe have someone available to help guests up to rooms with their luggage rather than just point them to the rooms.

The Hotel seems to be trying to be all things to all people, having private functions as well as holiday guests, which is a difficult task to juggle.

The result can be loud music from private functions until midnight and if your room is nearby you will not get peace until the party is over.

The corridors to the rooms did not have all the lights available on so care is needed not to stumble in the darker places.

The Hotel was not sold as an economy hotel or a cheap budget when we booked and therefore the service and amenities could and should be improved within reason to encourage people to return and give good references.

If the pools were brought back into use maybe the guests would stay on some days and spend more by having lunch at the Hotel?

With a few tweaks these things are achievable as the Hotel itself is fine.
