Having stayed at St Georges during a five week period of work on Guernsey, I was pleasantly surprised at the friendly and welcoming atmosphere that is often absent from larger establishments I visit. The English breakfast was always cooked well and hearty, although after several I found myself gravitating towards the healthier range of cereals and fruit on offer.
The two rooms I stayed in were always spotless and well maintained with a good range of TV channels to choose from (even Sky Sports on matchday!).
As I mentioned earlier the staff were very friendly and welcoming with the management always keen to provide that little extra bit of service.
My only gripe with my stay was the weather, its windy on that esplanade in autumn!
Highly recommended

As a regular visitor to the island I’ve stayed at several hotels on the island {because St.Georges fully booked), but I always return to the St.Georges because of the staff & service, rooms are well presented, tidy & cleaned every day Inc
Fresh towels. ALL rooms are en-suite with great decor, televisions in all rooms are complete with
DVD players apart from two which are LCD's.
Breakfast has a huge choice of cooked foods and the staff are happy to oblige, cereals, toast,
Yoghurts & juices complete this breakfast & there’s no restrictions as to the amount makes this a great place to stay THANKS DAVINA and staff.
I’ve also recommended this hotel to several
People and will carry on doing so

I am struggling to find many positive things to say about this hotel apart from the fact that it was in a reasonably good location and the bed was comfortable However, it reminded me of a tired residential home for the elderly with its varnished dark wood furniture and highly patterned and dated decor. The bedroom was cramped and the curtains in need of hanging properly as many of the hooks had fallen out. Breakfast was the same every day and a massive disappointmentand unless you like UHT yogurts, runny tinned tomatoes (in a land famed for growing them), watery scrambled egg, jam and marmalade from those horrid little plastic pots and watered down apple juice!! All this after the brochure desribes this as a quality hotel with breakfast being served in a grand style. To add to this the staff were unfriendly although polite. What a pity as this place has potential.

Management Response from Davina Sweet, Manager
St George\'s is not a hotel but a guest house. The tarriff is a budget price. The staff are dedicated and hard working especially in August. Not unfriendly just very busy. It has one Manager and four staff. If she had choosen a hotel she would have had to pay the extra costs of having a fuller service. The breakfast is buffet all you can eat. but also has a menu to order from. this lady did not make herself known to the manager, or make any complaints. Staff would have been happy to have served her anything she requested. And the apple juice is from a carton and not watered down, the yoghurts are fresh. We have tried fried tomato\'s in chaffers but they do not keep well, collapsing under the heat, so we use plum tomatoes.the sausages are full quality meat from the butchers. The dining room with the dark chairs is one of the most admired rooms by guests. with two aquariums with huge tropical fish. All bedrooms have modern light furniture. We also won a Silver gilt award in the Guernsey floral displays for our garden. So overall this was a unfair review. I am sorry she felt this way, shame she never actually said anything to staff.
