I doubt you will find a better 2* hotel than this

We have just returned from a wonderful week in Guernsey, the Pandora hotel exceeded all our expectations! We have stayed in many hotels most being 3/4* and none of them have matched the food we experienced, the choice and standard of the evening meals was superb. The garden is lovely, go down as far as it goes and have a wonderful view of the sea. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel is very clean. Would have preferred the bedroom to have been slightly larger, but then how much time do you spend in there anyway?

Characterful, friendly hotel in St Peter Port

Guernsey in late November was wonderful - and the Pandora Hotel was the ideal location for what we wanted to do - walk round the breath-taking coastline, visit Herm and Sark, and enjoy the town of St Peter Port too. The hotel is situated up one of the fairly steep roads out of St Peter Port - about 10 minutes' walk from the harbour area and shops. The building is characterful and homely, and, in summer, I imagine the gardens would be gorgeous - November was a bit chilly for sitting out! My daughter and I had single rooms with views over the roof tops out to sea - very comfortable. The en-suite bathrooms were not luxurious but everything worked!
There was something for everyone on the small, carefully planned, menu and I got the impression that it was freshly cooked to order. The menu changed daily and was posted in the hall in the morning. We had intended to eat out in St Peter Port once or twice during our stay, but, in the event, enjoyed the Pandora's food so much, that we didn't. We enjoyed their house red wine too. The vegetables, so often a let-down, were seasonal, plentiful, and cooked to perfection My daughter is a vegetarian and she was not disappointed with the choice. Breakfasts were substantial and, if you asked for a soft-cooked egg, that's what you got! The staff were all friendly and helpful.
The lounges were comfortable and supplied with a selection of books and games. To sum up, this hotel is simple, unassuming, and what it does, it does exceptionally well. I could imagine it being a lovely, friendly location for a family summer holiday. Definitely looking forward to a return visit.
PS. We hired a car through the hotel for some of our visit, and this was delivered and collected from the hotel - just easy! The hotel has car parking.

Top Local Tips for Guernsey
Boat Trip - Island Rib This was an excellent early evening trip if you feel like something different and little more exciting than the usual sedate ferry trip. Book at the Albert Pier.
Le Petite Bistro Centre of town - excellent french restaurant. All french staff and great atmosphere. approx £35 pp 2 courses & wine
Get away from the rush of the world If you are planning on a trip to Guernsey for relaxing, try to stay a few nights on Sark, too, instead of going there on a day trip. This car-free island has such a relaxing atmosphere (when all the day-trippers have gone) that relaxation starts already when you walk from the harbour to 'town'. (Do not use the toast rack transport up Harbour Hill unless it rains or your health requires it!) Explore the beaches of Grand Greve or Port du Moulin. The latter is all pebbles but we had it all for ourselves in May.
