My overall opinion of La Villette

We booked a midweek break in October and got a great deal including the fast Cat ferry crossing from Weymouth for two adults and a car. We really enjoyed our stay as La Villette is the perfect place to relax.
The staff are so friendly. They really do make you feel welcome. The hotel was having an extension built while we were there so it was quite noisy outside, but we didn't hear anything of the builders inside. We had bed and breakfast but we also ate in the bar every evening as it was reasonably priced and the locals who frequented the bar were friendly.
The bar staff and waiters were all Polish and spoke wonderful English. They always had a smile and were very willing and helpful.
Our room was small but well decorated and there was fresh tea and coffee making supplies every day. The window looked out onto a wall of the pool building. There are no sea views as it is some way from the sea.
There is a great bus service in Guernsey and you can catch a bus to town just outside the hotel.
We bought a card of twelve trips and used it the entire holiday. Great value for money was an entire tour of the island for around 60p each.
The hotel has a wonderful pool and most days we enjoyed it all to ourselves. When we did share it, or the sauna, we found that the other clients were islanders and very friendly people.
The hotel is not within reasonable walking distance of a beach. You do need a car or use the local buses if you want to see the island.
When we visited in October the nights were getting dark by 6 O'clock and there are very few street lights on the island. Don't go to Guernsey if your looking for a night life.
The hotel is close to the airport if that is your means of transport from the mainland. You can even get a bus from the airport to near the hotel.
My overall summing up of our midweek break of La Villette is that it is a small and very comfortable hotel in a pretty, leafy village. A perfect place to relax. One negative point is that Guernsey is becoming over populated. On every bit of spare land a little white bungalow is being built. Or as my husband called it, "Death by bungalow."

This is a fabulous hotel that has great facilities for visitors. Health suite, swimming pool gym etc. complemented by great staff in a brilliant position. Very welcoming and friendly; we have stayed now both summer and New Year and have had a great experience both times.

This was a shame as the hotel is lovely and in a perfect location and does have all the facilities advertised. The staff, with the exception of two reception staff, were not friendly, and did not speak - not even on the day of the wedding!!!!
We made our holiday enjoyable and unforgetable, but were made to feel like intruders.
Make sure you double check your booking here, even though it may not make a difference!!
