I stayed at La Grande Mare earlier this year and found the place to be an absolute shambles. I was greeted by an overly arrogant hotel manager who seemed permanently pre-occupied with himself, asked questions but never bothered to wait for your answer. I stood in the bar for a good 10 mins before anyone appeared.....failed to acknowledge me and carried on about his business.....ooh I recognize him I thought....yes it was the hotel manager again. Room was comfy with decent views and I found in general the hotel staff friendy and welcoming. I used both the health and golf facilities and found the range dissapointing to say the least. The satts were old and past there best, the ball machine was tempermentle and although covered, some genius decided not to fill the sides in so provided very little relief from the weather.

I booked this hotel on reccomendation of a friend. When i arrived i was very impressed with the hotel setting and surroundings. But when i got to the reception my excitement was short lived. The girl on reception was talking on the phone when i arrived and it was obvious that she was talking to a friend, i made it ovous i wanted service yet she continued to talk for the next 10mins. When she finally came to serve me she made no appology whatspever. She directed me to my room which was a very nice suite. Spacious and clean. I had 2 hours untill my business meeting so i decided to use the indoor heated swimming pool. I was very disapointed. it was very dirty nad the sauna ans steam rooms did not look like they had been cleaned for quite some time. The changing rooms were very nice but were shared with golfers so ther was lots of mud and grass on the floor.
