Anybody who visited this Hotel before March 2009 should certainly go back for another visit. The New Management and Staff are to be congratulated. Our room had a lovely view of the wooded grounds from our balcony and was very comfortable, clean and serviced daily. The food was well cooked and the Chef came round to guests tables most evenings to ask if everything was satisfactory. We would certainly recommend this Hotel with The New Management and Staff making our first visit to Guernsey a great holiday.

Having read previous reviews i was a bit concerned prior to our holiday but thankfully my worries were unfounded! The new management have obviously really improved the hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff were always friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough for us. The hotel is in a good location and has good facilities. We had very good breakfasts each day and could have as much or as little as we wanted. Our room was comfortable and clean. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and will certainly go back!!!

All references to this hotel before new management in March 2009 should be erased. The hotel is now comfortable,(no need to upgrade )friendly, good food, plenty of staff, luggage carried to rooms. A traditional Guernsey welcome when so many hotels have succumbed to the " corporate makeover" We shall be back.

Bizarre, Awful, Unwelcome, Dirty, Don't Go!

Upon arriving at the HdP the first thing we noticed was the lack of helpfulness and down right rudeness of the Manager. Over our 3 night stay his abnormal behaviour became more and more apparent. Upon entering our (dirty) rooms we founds them to be poorly lit, nothing worked (TV, hairdryer) and my colleague also had the pleasure of finding a used sanitary towel in his bathroom. On one night we became locked out of our rooms as we were given the wrong keys to open the outhouse building. Realising this we went to reception to advise only to be shouted at for suggesting the keys were wrong in the first place. On another night we came back at around 11-12pm after a long day at work only to be told to go straight to bed because the manager wanted to go to bed. Not sure why we had to go bed when he did. This was after being denied my belongings which were behind reception which I did need for the early morning departure. After going back outside I realised that the manager had not gone to bed at all so decided to confront him regarding my belongings only to have them passed to me without a single word said and an expresion of disgust on his face. No idea why I couldn't just have them back in the first place. This place has left me a very foul taste about Guernsey. I have also reported this place to the Guernsey tourist board it was that bad. I could go on and on about this place. In short, DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!! And do not be fooled by the website, it is absolutely nothing like what the Hotel really is. I am also not really the type of person that would normally write these reviews but I feel as though this really needs to be said so that you do not make the same mistake as what we did by choosing this hotel

This is the worst hotel I have ever been to. do not go there, the owner bullies his staff and is rude, the food is uncooked or overcooked and the staff are rude. they bring food to the table you did not order and try charging you for it. the chips are days old and recooked time and time again. the prices are expensive 15 pound per meal. and to top it off the whole family were ill all evening

Awful stay would not recommend, the hotel did not have a clue what he was doing. Served me bitter in a Fosters glass, he was rude to his staff, sold out off date crisps and when I challanged him about it, he told me to leave. I would strongly suggest avoiding this hotel.

2 STAR HOTEL

The hotel is over rated because this is 2 star hotel not 3 star, so don't believe signs in the hotel or outside. We stayed there for 3 nights. The room was cold and the manager rude, it seems like he doesn't know what he is doing. Don't go there.

True we booked through Air Miles but I was thoroughly disappointed with this 3 star hotel. More a B & B than a Hotel! Our room, clean but dated, no remote control tv, and only 4 channels. Breakfast (the same limited menu each day) 7.30 to 9am. No thanks on holiday! Thin tiny towels and cheap toiletries. Even the Holiday Inn Express can manage luxury towels and Dove shower gel! And we had to carry our own luggage up and down steep stairs. We love the Merton hotel in Jersey, also 3 stars, fantastic facilities. This is one is just over rated. There were superior rooms for an 'extra' £32 per night. On top of the £105 already charged. Not that we were offered one. My husband adored guernsey so we will return to Le Friquet or Peninsula hotels, they were much more in keeping with a 3 star rating.

Beautiful location. Interesting building (although all rooms very poorly lit, so very dull)The new owner (since 2007)was very rude to his staff, inefficient dealing with guests and offered absolutely no apology for the various things which went wrong (poorly -or uncooked food, cold tea at breakfast, slow service, no service. Shame, the hotel could be a winner if there was a decent manager there.
