Rooms needs modernising/decoration

Price was competitive, location is excellent with it being one of the 1st hotels you meet coming off the ferry. Hotel closes at 12 midnight and guests have own key for outside door. No drinks after normal closing time (11ish). There is no bar as such, but the manager will bring alcoholic drinks on request to a lounge area. Breakfast would fill a horse, but the full english is not for me as I don't like tinned tomatoes and the sausages are not brand sausages. Fortunatley, they also offer omlettes and other alternatives (fruit juice & cereals help yourself). Room was very old, but kept as clean as it could be. TV (working) but no remote. Radio embedded into wall but not working, hairdryer not working. I felt there was a damp smell to the room but maybe I just booked a room that was not normally booked out. It did seem to get better after a few days or maybe I just got used to it. Lovely Chinese couple run the hotel and they have a Chinese and European menu in the evening but I did not sample so cannot comment. The other staff in the hotel were always very helpful.
