Great location, shame about the staff. We booked for 4 days for our honeymoon in December, the room was fine (if you excuse the wonky taps, unflushed loo paper and no wardrobe) with excellent views across Windermere. Unfortunately the person running the place for that week couldn’t have cared less and was just plain rude. Neither of us have been made to feel so unwelcome in any place we’ve EVER stayed in and this being our honeymoon we were doubly disappointed. A request for a bottle of wine in the hotel bar was greeted with a grunt and the bottle plonked down on the table without a word…there was only us 2 in the bar. This was no exception, his attitude throughout our stay was unacceptable, we even left a day early and forfeited a nights money. The much heralded restaurant was shut for the week but at least that meant we could escape to eat where we were made to feel welcome.
