We do not know what annoymous is on about. We stopped at the Sherborne hotel in Febuary from Friday to Monday. When our coach arrived the manager came on board and welcomed us. Our cases were taken to our rooms for us, the room was very nicely decorated and clean, yes our bathroom was a bit small but quite adequate and our room was nice and warm. The whole of the staff were very polite and always ready to help. If there had have been a problem Mrs Manager(as we called her) was at breakfast each morning. The food was plentiful and varied with plenty of choice at breakfast and dinner. Their son ran the bar in the evening and always with a smile. Evening entertainment was laid on, on Saturday and Sunday evenings but it was a shame more people did not make the effort to attend it. Those of us who did had a good time. On the morning of our departure the manager came into the dining room at breakfast to apologise that he would not be there when we left as he had to go to the wholesalers, but Mrs. Manager did the honours. So do not be put off by the views of annomous as we nearly were go and try it yourself, we are sure you will have a good time.

For the price I paid, this short break (4 nights) with DBB and coach travel, including excursions being included made this one of my favorite breaks. Th food was excellent, and the staff, well one couldn't wish for nicer and enthusiatric young lady waitresses together with the owner's wife. Well done, I hope to see you again in my favorite south coast town.

Friendly, Value for Money Hotel

I believe we used the same travel company as we stayed for four days travelling by coach and found the hotel to be excellent value for money. There was always someone available to talk to and they, and all the staff, were friendly and helpful; the food was home cooked and enjoyable and there was plenty of it; the hotel and rooms were clean and kept clean every day. The only criticism would be the small bathroom, but how long do you need to spend in there when you are on holiday - if the water is hot then that is all you need. How many 4* hotels take your luggage up to the room, serve you breakfast and supper at the table with a smile, offer you a packed lunch for the journey home and charge reasonable prices for the drinks - not many! Keep this level of service up and I hope people will not be put off by the first review as we nearly were but soon had our negative thoughts changed to positive ones.

Worst Hotel I have ever Stayed In

Don't Stay at the Sherborne Hotel. I have just spent 4 days there as part of a coach party. When we arrived (10 mins before we were due to check in) the coach driver got no answer. Eventually a man answered and said the owners wouldn't be there until 3pm. We were let into the hotel and the owners eventually arrived puffing and panting. We were told rules and meal times and taken to our rooms. We never saw the male owner again and the female owner only every appeared to help serve breakfast. You could not speak to the owners as they were never there. The rooms were shabby and small. The food was of poor quality and poorly cooked. It was an unmanned reception so you had no one to ask if you had any problems. We have never felt so unwelcome, uncomfortable and generally unhappy with any hotel before. On the hotel website it says The English Tourist Board had awarded them 4 diamonds - I find this very hard to believe. We were told on our last night by our coach driver that the female owner told him that breakfast would be at 8 am and we had to be out of the hotel by 8.45 am.
