Superb Location, Overrated For What It Is
Having never been to Weymouth before, I could only rely on internet searches to find a decent hotel.
I came across the website for the Chatsworth and it looked okay.
Well, you can't fault the location with the beach to the front, and the working harbour to the rear. They can provide you with a parking permit and with its location, you won't need to return to your car while you are there as everything is within walking distance.
As regards the hotel, well, I think the website is a little bit too arty, for what is a typical 'creaky floorboard' type of English hotel. Sadly, I don't think creaky floorboards have 'charm', neither do I think poor cleaning is 'charming in an English kind of way'. I didn't have an evening meal there, so can't really comment. The breakfast was totally unexciting, and very 'par for the course' with cheap catering sausages.
The staff however were very friendly.
The rear balcony overlooking the harbour is a pleasant place to sit and watch the boats ...Read more

Great views but.......
We stayed for two nights. Our room overlooked the harbour, which was lovely. First of all the website is totally over the top and must be years old. Can’t complain about the hotel but this is not a luxury hotel!! The carpets are black with dirt. We had a luxury room (not!!!!!!!!)The carpet was thread bare, dirty bed linen, dirty floor. In two days, we are sure our room and the restaurant were never hoovered the whole time we were there! On our last morning we went to breakfast at 9am, went back to room at 9.20am and our bed had been made which we thought odd as surely they should have changed the bed for the next people!!!!!! It still had our sheets on it! Oh and we were greeted by a very polite and helpful lady but she reeked of alcohol!! Not a very good way to greet your guests!!!

Unreal
This was the first time I'd stayed in a guest house for close on 40 years since my childhood. Do not be fooled by the website and the claim of the highest graded hotel on Weymouth's harbouside. The website really does stretch the limits of the trade descriptions act. I can't say there was much wrong with the place but there was little to recommend it, especially taking the cost into account. Had it been £25 per night per person my rating would have increased but at this price it is a rip off. Rooms smelt of smoke; staff smoked in the sitting area whilst residents had their breakfast; no help from anyone with bags etc (we had a child with us); the al fresco dining area overlooked their back yard. My advice - go and stay in a 3* mainstream hotel for this price and enjoy it much more. Weymouth by the way we loved if you want a traditional seaside break - fantastic Punch and Judy show you should not miss !

Not Dissapointed
I booked this break at short notice and after booking I found this review site and the previously left message.
I was a little bit concerned although on arrival at the hotel it soon became apparent that the previously left review was complete nonsense!!
THE STAFF COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE HELPFUL AND THE ROOM THAT WE WERE STAYING IN WAS SPOTLESSLY CLEAN. The room had a lovely view over the harbour and there was a more than ideal communal terrace. We never had an evening meal at the hotel although the menu did look rather tempting.
The cooked breakfasts seemed to be cleared from the tables with some of the items still on them but being a veggie I couldn't comment further.

Great friendly staff
Great friendly hotel, lovely staff but owner has absolutely no interest. This is a lovely hotel with a nice atmosphere. Website pics portray this hotel as a luxury hotel but this is not the case. The hotel is is dire need of a good clean. On arrival i was very disappointed in the cleanliness of this hotel, the shower was filthy and everything covered in a layer of dust, it didnt look as if the carpets had been cleaned let alone hoovered in a very long time. This hotel would be wonderful if only they would clean it!!!
