Surprisingly good

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed here for one night before our holiday travelling from Heathrow because my husband had been here on business and had loved the Chinese restaurant. Having read the reviews on Trip Advisor I was a little nervous but our experience was very positive.
Check-in was easy, our room was large, well-equipped and spotlessly clean and the bed was really comfortable. Also, my husband was totally right about the Chinese restaurant...fabulous!
The 'car park' is more of a 'car field' but it suited us for 5 nights.
All in all I would fully recommend this hotel for an overnight stay prior to flying.

t stay again

I got a good deal through Holiday Extras of 60 pounds for a room plus 15 days free car parking, that is the only really positive thing I have to say about this hotel.
On our arrival, the lobby and bar areas were packed and smoky, and a large group of young teenage boys were running about unsupervised, not a good start.
Our booking was for an executive room, this was not given and had to be asked for, the receptionist was not helpful.
Our room was OK, but small and the bathroom smelled damp. The room was cold and the heating poor, the quilts were only summer weight and just about covered the bed.
The fire alarm sounded at about 10.30pm, the cleaning staff on our floor said it was a false alarm and allowed people to go back to bed. We went down to the lobby to discover that people were being evacuated and the fire brigade were en route. Luckily it was a false alarm, I dread to think what would have happened if there had been a fire as the eveacuation procedure was appalling.
We returned to our room to try and sleep but were kept awake by noisy cleaning staff who shouted to each other down the corridors as they cleaned rooms adjacent to ours. This is unacceptable at 11.30pm.
Another negative point - do not park here if you value your car, security arrangements were negligible, just a flimsy barrier, the car park was overflowing with cars parked everywhere, on verges and pavements, I had to search to find a space.
Also the courtesy bus does not drop off at Terminal 4, and it's quite a hike from the other terminals.
I certainly would not stay again and would not recommend this hotel.

Better than parking at Heathrow itself.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn at Heathrow Airport for just 1 night. On arriving at the hotel we were asked what time we were leaving. We said around 6am and as a result we were upgraded to one of the executive rooms on the 1st floor.

The room itself was very modern and spacious and the bed very comfortable. We ordered room service as we hadn't eaten all day and this arrived swiftly and was very nice if very expensive.

The staff were a little less pleasent unfortunately. At first when we got our door pass it did not work and by the time I got back to reception a large queue had developed. There was one staff member sitting at the info desk not doing anything and when I approached her to say the pass did not work she rudely told me to join the queue and walked away to do some more nothing. 15 minutes later I got in.

The main 2 reasons for booking the hotel were the fact that our flight was at 10am on Monday morning and did not want to risk getting caught in rush hour traffic and miss the flight but more importantly it actually costs less to stay here and leave the car for a week parked at the hotel than it was just to park at the airport. I booked this through AirMiles and payed about £79, result. And I got Priority Points for it too.

If you are planning on flying out from Heathrow and leaving the car for a week or more then I would definitely recommend using this option. You have to pay a little to get the bus to the terminals (for which it does not go to 4 so have to use the Heathrow Express from Terminal 1) but its only small change and the train only takes a few minutes.

Value Hotel

Stopped at this hotel for one night before our onward journey. Included Car Parking for 14 nights. £85.00. This was what I considered a good value rate. Hotel reception was average and the booking in easy.
Hotel room on the 8th floor. Good room, some minor faults but comfortable for the night. Can not rate dining as not used. For one noght before a flight including parking - very good value.

Stay away!!!!

This has to be the WORST hotel that one could choose to stay at in the Heathrow area. As my partner and I were arriving early in the morning from a trans atlantic flight, I attempted to contact the hotel but the number does not work from overseas (0870) and this is the ONLY number that is givin. When I contacted holiday inn in north america and asked for early check in they said "not a problem". When we arrived about an hour later than I had advised that I would be there we were charged 20 pounds for early check in. The staff were very rude and impatient when we were checking in. The room was ok, nothing remarkable. The next morning the when we had our breakfest that had been included in the rate that we had bought, we were asked to pay!!. Until I pointed out that it was included in room rate, they were demanding the money and when they realized their mistake there was no apology. The service level at this hotel is very poor and unwelcoming. If you are looking to stay at a hotel in the heathrow area, check out the crowne plaza, it is on the same bus route, but is far better.

A typical Holiday Inn

from A TripAdvisor Member
A typical Holiday Inn & Ok for a stay over. Used a lot by business people & crews. Make sure you get an Exec room and don’t go for the top 2 floors – these need serious refurbishment.

Samapans restaurant good but very expensive.

Easy for airport and good Park & Fly facilities.

Professional Business Hotel

from FT_FlyinHawaiian
I had a pleasant stay here on an overnight stay before a morning flight back to the US. I was impressed by the size of this property - it's a large, full scale hotel. The inside lobby is vast and spacious - I get the feeling that this is a popular business hotel. My check-in went smoothly, except I was told there were no non-smoking rooms open at the time. I reluctantly accept their offer of an upgraded smoking room on the Executive Floor, which turned out to be a fine place to spend the night. The room had been recently renovated and there was no smell of smoke inside. The only clues that it was a smoking room were a few cigarette burns here and there on the desk and furniture.

I found the bedding confortable and certainly would have ordered from the pillow menu if I were staying for more than a night. I appreciated the fully working air conditioner that chilled the room to a nice, comforatable level. As mentioned in another review, the items in mini-bar cannot be removed without incurring charges, and it was a pain having to take the items back to the front desk for a credit. Even worse, even though the front desk claimed that they had reversed the charges, a charge still appeared on my credit card statement.

For those taking the Hoppa - please remember that while you are the first stop leaving LHR, when returning for your flight, you will need to make additional stops at other hotels, which can add up to a long transit back to the terminal. Give yourselves pleanty of time to wait for and ride the Hoppa for your departure.

A pleasant surprise!

from A TripAdvisor Member
I had to overnight in London last week on a business trip to Amsterdam and Rotterdam. I took the day plane (it leaves at and is supposed to get in at 9.15pm but it never does as Air Canada is ALWAYS late going to Heathrow) as it is easier on the body clock particularly as I was only going for four days.
We arrived at 9.50pm and by the time we cleared passport control and got to the Hoppa Bus it was 10.30pm. One important note here is that you can purchase a return ticket for GBP5.00 at the Hotels desk not far from where you go to get the bus. It saves you GBP1.00 by buying the return up front.
I had to take Bus #1 to the hotel and only had to wait about ten minutes for it. However by the time I got to the hotel it was nearly eleven pm and its two interesting looking restaurants close then. After a fuss with the hotel clerk who couldn't find my reservation, he finally booked me in taking a copy of my itinerary which quoted the hotel tariff. I got a good deal through my Travel agent of GBP67.50 including taxes but excluding breakfast. The pleasant surprise was the size and comfort of the room and especially the huge King size bed and the very well appointed bathroom. The hotel was very busy yet well soundproofed as once you were in the room it was totally silent. I went down to see about some food but as I mentioned the restaurants closed at 11pm except for the pub and a sort of lounge area that had a limited snack menu like burgers and sandwiches. I wasn't that hungry that I wanted something heavy like a burger so I went back to the room and ordered a good parwan (shrimp) sandwich which was nice and light. And the other good news are the mini-bar prices weren't out of line and the TV has numerous stations and some decent recent pay movies. I had a wonderful sleep and when it was time to leave mid-morning, the Hoppa Bus was waiting outside.
I definitely recommend this Holiday Inn provided you can get a good and reasonable rate as I did.

Cheaper than car parking!!

from bucmed
We had an early check in the day before so the option of a night in a hotel and car parking proved cheaper than the car park itself.
Having scanned through past comments I would agree with most of them. For an evening meal the concierge directed us to a pub around the corner, a 10min walk and had a really good meal. Better than some hotel restaurant meals and of course a good atmosphere. Returned to validate car parking ticket and the receptionist was extremely frosty.. Oh well you can't have everything, but a smile costs nothing.
I would recommed booking early on these deals at hotels as the price does go up the closer you get to the date of departure, much to our annoyance.

great for airport layover

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed here for one night in October 2004 before we flew out of Heathrow the next day. The location was great, the Hoppa Bus was only 3 pounds per person, and it was quiet. The room was very large, with a bathtub, not just a shower. The minibar posed a bit of a problem because if you just pull something out of it to look at it, you automatically get charged for it so you have to bring the unconsumed item to the front desk to get credited for it. There's also a pillow menu so you can choose which kind of pillow you want. We ate at the Rotisserie restaurant twice, the supper buffet and the breakfast buffet, both very good if a little overpriced. We also went to the hotel lounge which was nice because it offered a non-smoking section. Would definitely stay here again, but only on a layover as it is a fair ways from London.
