Top Local Tips for Wells next the sea
A good and convenient small town Just to note that this a very good town for everyone: posh deli on the quay; old fashioned amusement shops on quay; seal rides etc, lovely 2nd hand bookshop a little way inland; dolls house shop (!) in main street; amazing beaches and marshlands, and really close to lots of other gorgeous villages with other charms. Two great gastropubs on the Georgeian Green. Small supermarket plus later-night convenience store. Basically a very convenient town to stay in or near to.
Great delicatessen by the quay and fresh fish shop is great value If you're self-catering, don't miss the delicatessen on the quayside at Wells-next-the-Sea. They have a lovely array of products which aren't expensive given the quality. Fabulous fresh bread, coffee, and all kinds of foods, exotic and otherwise. Very nice staff too and great sandwiches, cheeses and things like lunch-sized venison pies. We also found that Wells' own fish shop in the main shopping street is best value for miles around: incredibly fresh and cheapest prices for everything we compared, including crabs. They also sell massive, delicious rolls in delicatessen-quality bread.
Horse rides For kids the West Runto riding school was very good. GBP12.50 for 30 minute ride.
