Historical Traveller Reviews of Hilton Warwick Hotel

Excellent service

from flashgord
Stayed for 2 nights between Christmas and New Year in their Family Suite. We found all the staff to be very friendly and helpful, the room was a good size for the 4 of us and clean and well presented including dressing gowns, complimentary spring water (still and sparkling) chocolate bars and other healthier! eating options. We all enjoyed the buffet style breakfast although we didn't have an evening meal as we felt it was a bit pricey. Just across the road is a pub - The Porridge Pot - which serves the usual fayre if you are not up to an expensive meal. I used the Gym facilities and there is a nice pool too. The hotel was very convenient for Warwick Castle (and the town) - you could walk it easily as it was less than 1.5 miles. Alternatively, park at the castle for £3 for the day and you can walk into the town. The bus service to Stratford is very convenient, just outside the hotel and was to the minute on the timetable. Overall we had a most enjoyable stay and we got it for a quarter of the price as we used Tesco Clubcard Deals to pay for it!!

Worst Hotel in Warwickshire

We stayed one night in the Hilton and we could wait to get out! The bar was busy so we expected a wait but 25 minutes to even get your order taken! When we finally did get served the member of staff took quite a while to understand our order. Then we sat down and had food, the parsnips were actually completely raw and the rest was over cooked! And again we ordered some drinks at the table, this time it took 20 minutes and the staff were hardly rushed off thier feet. All in all a terbile service. I would highly recommend that you do not visit this place especially at the price you pay.

t fault it

I took my mother away for the weekend to warwick and the Hilton had a fantastic offer on at the time which included dinner on the first night of our stay. It was superb. It was a buffet, although there were other dishes you could order to be served at your table. Everything was hot and freshly cooked, and plenty of it.
Breakfast again was excellent, all buffet but just about everything you could want. One of the nicest things about the restaurant was they had plenty of staff around, and they all knew what they were doing so you never waited with a dirty plate in front of you and were always checking for coffee or juices refils.
Since I am a Hilton Honours Gold member, our rooms were upgraded and there was a bottle of wine and some chocolates waiting for us when we arrived. Check in was quick and efficient, the staff were all very polite. The room was more than adequately equipped, all lovely smellys and things in the bathroom as well.
If I had to pick fault it would be the prces in the bar. A glass of wine and a G&T was £11.00. Bit OTT if you ask me!!
Parking is plentiful and I think it was £3.00 a day.

Used regularly for work based meeting and colleagues overnight. Once this was a good hotel - now they seems to excel in not meeting excpectations.

Very nice and a good price

Stayed for one night at the Hilton Warwick and it was much better than I was expecting based on earlier reviews. The hotels has been recently refurbished and the rooms were very modern and clean and reasonably large (we were given a free upgrade to a club room as we are hilton gold members). Drinks are expensive in the bar - but aren't all hotels. Didn't eat in the hotel except for breakfast which was very good.

Overall a very pleasant stay, good service, nice room, no noise and at £100 bed and breakfast I thought it was good value. Dont understand the other reviews which say the hotel is shabby - they either stayed before the refurbishment or maybe all rooms haven't been refurbished yet. The club rooms are excellent and would recomend a stay here. Very convenient from motorway and just outside Warwick.

Another average but expensive hotel in England

from Dansladen
I have to agree with another review that states: "The hotel has definitely seen better days" My room was OK, but extremly small and not comfortable enough for a short business stay of a couple of nights. During my stay, the temperatures were above average and as with 90% of all hotels in the UK, the rooms are not fitted A/C. There was a fan in a my room but it looked like the staff had no cleaned it for several months. You can see where parts of the hotel and furniture are getting tired. The TV was located in a small table but it was below the bed level making it impossible to watch TV laying down. Staff was friendly but one member was not very well informed on Taxi fares to the airport as this person told us that a ride to the airport would only cost GBP 10.00 but it ended up costing GBP 40,00.

not as bad as others say

from merionvw
I was almost deterred from staying here by other reviews but if you acknowledge that hilton are not quite what they were then this was a good hotel. My room requests were fulfilled to the letter and the room was big, clean, light and well furnished. (Go for a quiet room over the field at the back). the staff were really friendy and helpful - to the piont of hunting down safety pins and elastic bands for my adult daughters costume on a busy saturday night with a really good attitude. Even the reception staff were really nice which is unheard of. DInner was great and so was breakfast. Be warned though that if you are going on a leisure trip the pool and gym are small and the state of the changing rooms (old lockers and mould in the showers) is unacceptable. But overall its a quieter better choice than the holiday inn opposite and if you get theeir Saga rate or Summer special the rates are actually cheaper! A much better experience than the Brighton Hilton I stayed in lsat week which was a disgrace and should be thrown out of the chain.

Poor value

from laretal
I had made a reservation but arrived late and they had no non-smoking rooms left. So I had to upgrade to get a non-smoking room - £179 for a pokey room. The air con did not work so I complained and they moved me to a club room - which was ok. There were lots of little gripes - slow service, feeble shower, no mini-bar etc. They want to charge you for parking and for using the internet (no wireless here). But the coup de grace was when they asked me for an extra £15.50 for breakfast as it was not included in the room rate! I asked to see the manager and gave him an earful. He let me off the breakfast charge.

Overall - 3 star accomodation at 5 star prices. Not recommended.

excellent value-if you get a good rate!

I stayed here over the weekend of 17-19 June and was well satisfied. There's a half-hourly bus service from Leamington Spa station during the day (via Warwick), hourly on evenings and Sundays. The bus stops outside the hotel and continues to Stratford, so here is an ideal place to stay for avoiding the over-priced hotels in that town.

I asked for a quiet room and got one; I noticed no noise from inside or outside the building.
There was no aircon in the room, but a big fan was in the cupboard.Everything worked and the room was very clean.

The TDH dinner is a bit pricey at £24.95 for 3 courses (coffee extra) and it was all self-service but this is ideal if you are in a hurry. The quality was good and you could have as much as you wanted, but it's worth noting the Holiday Inn over the road. This has a Wetherspoon-type pub attached for cheaper meals-and you can sit outside.

Breakfast was good and plentiful, but expect to queue if they're busy; unlike some hotels, they are not good at clearing dirty tables quickly.

I'm not saying you would want to spend a week here but for a short break it's more than OK.

Price tip! If you are aged 50 or over, book with Hilton Central reservations and request the Saga rate (you'll have to give your date of birth!).In July and August, it's only £61 for 2 nights b+b at the weekend, including dinner on the first night! You can stay for up to 4 nights pro-rata and there is no single supplement on Fri-Sun nights. They are far more likely to have availability than many of the over-priced establishments in Stratford-upon-Avon and remember that bus service!

Awful Food

from A TripAdvisor Member
Stayed 10 June for one night, was ata conference.

Location wise it is slightly out of town, 2 miles to nearest town so would need a car, although there is a great pub across the road and bus stop right outside hotel.

The room i was in was clean and comfortable, if a little on the small side. No mini bars or air conditioning etc but for one night not an issue for me.

Has a living well which i couldnt use due to lack of time but it looked quite decent.

Given the large numbers staying i would have to say the speed of service for food, drinks and check in etc was quite slow, The big drawback was the food, simply appaling. A lunch that cost £9 per head was worth barely a third of that and the £30 per head dinner was equally appaling. This hotel obviously caters for large events etc so i would expect them to be better prepared and the quality of the food was frankly un satisfactory regardless of how busy the place was.

Having said that the staff were friendly and polite, helpful when available and my concerns would appear to be more strategic that the hotel at management level need to review the quality of service when catering for large events as im sure the oridinary guests arriving for a quiet weekeknd away and not connected to the conference suffered just as badly as i.
