Ideal weekend breakfrom Gav D
Fabulous break with a 10 week oldfrom Frequenttravellers2
If you are a young family I cannot recommend the Hotel enough. I would love to come back in the Summer and play golf. If you are a young couple looking for a trendy break then there are probably better alternatives but with genuinely excellent family resorts in short supply this has to be one of the best there is.

so was expecting something special, - and it was. Stayed in 'Executive Suite' in Garden Wing. Clean, spacious and well equipped. Only problem was that it was a hot day and the room did not have A/C or through ventilation.
Used pool/sauna and Spa bath (spa too hot but good otherwise).
Staff courteous but discreet.
Dined in Oakes Grill, few other diners so service and spece excellent. Food possibly a little unadventurous, but well cooked and good but not excessive portions.
The bed was the best that we have ever slept in.
Pool opens at 06:00 so had good opportunity for an early swim.
The breakfast was excellent, which when taken late, (after 11:00), makes an ideal al-fresco brunch.
We don't often repeat visit, but if something similar can't be found locally, would seriously consider going back.

Friendly welcome from the staff on checking in.
We stayed in a suite (larger room with a separate sitting area)in the Manor House overlooking the Golf course. The room was very comfortable and had beautiful views. I would advise booking a room in the Manor rather than the annex as I think they have more character.
Staff are attentive without being pushy.
Food in the Oakes Grill was excellent. We booked a table in advance - yet it wasn't that busy and a quiet table was easy to find.
Zodiac Lounge - Drinks possibly expensive - but this is a cocktail bar and not a pub. Sit back, relax and enjoy the service.
Spa - very good and treatments reasonably priced.
There was a wedding on during our stay, however this did not impact our weekend. The hotel is large enough to accommodate a large party and individual guests.
We would definitely stay again.
Overrated.....from A TripAdvisor Member
The building and grounds are quite impressive. We stayed in a superior room in the manor house, the decor and views overlooking the lake were exceptional. Words cannot describe how comfortable the bed and pillows were.
We had afternoon tea in the oak room, the service was extremely slow and the sandwiches were very poor and overpriced.
We dined in the Zodiac Restaurant in the evenign, it was overstaffed and a little chaotic. The food was delicious, however we felt that it was overpriced as were drinks at the bar.
My husband and I normally stay at SLH or independent hotels, Hanbury Manor did not have the ambience or level of personal service that one would experience at other hotels.
Overall we felt that food/drinks were over priced. Having stayed at lords of the manor and fawsley hall on several occassions, both of which have similar prices to Hanbury - there is no comparison. If you like standard 5 star you will enjoy this, if you like something with a personal touch / ambience then Hanbury Manor is not the place for you.
A wonderful stayfrom A TripAdvisor Member
The ambiance of the original, historic sections exude English warmth at its best--from the mahogany panelled walls to the crackling fire and the ancient tapestries. The newer wings are, as many have reported, done in tasteful, complimentary style. The large bedrooms come with the new, deluxe "Marriott bed" and linens, and marble baths. The newest addition--the Spa--provides excellent fitness facilities, a lovely indoor pool and Jacuzzi, along with all of the traditional spa treatments.
While February is not the nicest of times to see the grounds and gardens, they are clearly fantastic. I'd like to return just to see the walled Victorian garden in full bloom!
But best of all was the service. We are seasoned travelers and can honestly say that we were treated with more genuine warmth and care than any hotel we can recall.
It is true that the food is quite expensive--although all very good. For dinner, you may want to get a bit more local flavor and try "The Anchor"--a quaint pub with wonderful meals, just a minute or two up the road.
Great job, Marriott!
Picturesque on the outside, stately within.from MidlandsBlonde
If, like us, you don't take your evening meal in the hotel, turn left on exiting the hotel grounds and drive into the nearest village. The cream-painted pub-restaurant on a lefthand corner at the bottom of the hill has an enormous menu covering both traditional and more interesting fare and, although fairly busy at the weekend, provided us with an excellent meal.
Breakfast in the hotel Oakes Grill was excellent. An enormous offering of dishes, including the usual English cooked, was topped off in my eyes with a fabulous fresh fruit buffet. Strawberries and melon to start my day!
The hotel rooms are large, well appointed and come complete with fluffy bathrobes and slippers, which we used to go down to the pool / sauna. The jacuzzi was the biggest I've ever seen in a hotel and meant you didn't feel you had to "cosy up" with strangers and could therefore truly relax. Towels are available from a huge rack on the poolside and free orange, lemon and lime squash in the corridor opposite the gym. It's these little touches that make a hotel experience a one-off! What a shame we were only there for the weekend ...
Top Local Tips for Ware
Ware You can easily get a cheap taxi (£5) to Ware or a little more for Hertford and there are some nice restaurants in both places.
Hotel functions Be aware that this hotel hosts many functions /weddings / golf tours with the associated noise... if that bothers you, ask for a quiet room or book somewhere else.
Booking Afternoon Tea If you want to sample the afternoon tea book in advance. Whilst there are tables kept for hotel residents booking in advance letsyou select a table location. I would suggest in fron tof the fire or one of the window bays.
