My husband and I have just returned from a "special offer" four day break at the Lincombe Hall. We have returned relaxed and VERY well fed! In spite of being a little frayed round the edges(although this adds to the charm)the hotel is comfortable and welcoming and provided everything we required for a relaxing break. The staff all excel at their jobs and are very friendly and professional and the food is absolutely fantastic,by far outdoing some of the higher rated hotels we have stayed in,the choice and high standard every night is outstanding and we will certainly be returning in the future.

We stayed for an enjoyable four nights during the main holiday season in a Gold Room. We found the evening meals excellent both in terms of quality and choice. Breakfast was the typical hot buffet style that you will find in a small hotel. The hotel is frayed around the edges - as you will find in many other hotels of this type - but we found all the facilities clean and tidy. The outdoor heated pool, which is set in lovely gardens, was small but clean and warm. The indoor pool was small but clean. The staff were very friendly and the service was fine. We had one complaint over the furnishings which was dealt with the same day. Entertainment for kids could be improved in the evenings but the centre of Torquay is only a 5 minute walk away. For the less energetic there is a steep hill to walk back up - as there is for most of the hotels in Torquay - but readily available taxis are less than £3.
I read some of the other reviews on the lincombe hall after booking and was a little apprehensive on what we would find - I cannot agree with the review that gave this hotel 1 or 2 out of 10. If anything is not to your satisfaction tell the staff and management and they will try to do something about it - don't wait until the end of your trip to complain.
We would have no hesitation in booking a stay at the lincombe hall again.

It's hard to believe reading some of the other comments that we are talking about the same hotel. We found the staff extremely friendly and helpful - ands, yes, they did carry our bags to our room. True we didn't stay in the annex - our room was a Sutherland in the main part of the hotel - but we thought the room was large, airy and very well appointed. The kingsize bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept on in a hotel! Okay we were woken up every day by the delivery van at 5am but that was a small price to pay for all the good points. The gardens were in superb condition and a pleasure to wander around before breakfast or after our evening meal. The outdoor pool was spotless and the temperature of the water perfect - even my wife went in - and that is very rare indeed. The food was fabulous! Breakfast was a buffet style with cereals, fruit juice, grapefruit, prunes as well as the "full English". If you are a big eater this is great because you can have a much as you want and it is all freshly cooked and very appetising! The evening meal was also great with a good choice of starters, main course, desserts and cheeses. All of the food was fresh and the meat clearly came from a butcher - no prepacked catering portions here. The portions were large and tasteful. The waitresses were very polite, very helpful and always cheerful! The rates are also attractive as for every three days paid for, you get a fourth night free. This is a big saving if you stay for 8 or 12 nights.
One last word - this isn't the greatest hotel if you have a lot of active children! Apart from the swimming pools and the pool room, there isn't much to do in the evenings for youngsters - so take some games to play (preferably quite ones!. There are three big lounges but they are really designed for adults who want to relax and either listen to a singer, a pianist or do a crossword or two!
Hopefully, we are going again in October! Why would we go anywhere else? Thanks Bill!!

Nostalgia Go to Bygones in Babbacome. Take at least two hours parking. Starts in Victorian times and goes through to the 50's/60's. It's a privately owned museum with lots and lots to see and 'I remember that' over. Plenty to keep families occupid.

sea life centre on harbour and paignton zoo lots of walking required in paignton zoo so take comfy shoes.A good day out for all the family
