Wow, had a great time at the balmoral, very friendly staff made you feel at home, location is ace being just 10mins walk from town. Service in the resaturant is quick and efficient with great grub. Will be re visiting for one of their "party breaks" or special weekends in nov.

excellent service, should be a 3 star with the quality of rooms, food & location, our first time there and will be returning. No other hotel in meadfoot (nicest area in torquay) does half board. The cost compared to B&B id take half board every time, works out at £36 a night half board which is about the same price B&B in some places. I would defiantly recommend to my friends. Torquays little hidden gem!

Good small hotel

We found the hotel on ebay and took a chance. The hotel was easy to find in a very quiet, pleasant part of Torquay. We found the hotel to be clean, tidy and the staff friendly. There weren't rules up everywhere and we felt very relaxed and comfortable. Food was good and a most of the guests had stayed there before, many times. Considering what we paid we thought it was really good value for money. We'll go again

Very Good Hotel - Nice Location

I would definatly recommend the hotel after visiting in December 2008 we had an excellent stay over the Christmas period with the most amazing food for a small hotel and all the staff put in a great amount of effort to make sure we were happy. room was spacious and bright seemed to have new fixtures, very clean and tidy. located just down from the beach although in being december, taking a dip was out of the question. and not far bout 10-15 min walk to town centre. Will be returning.

Just arrived back from a weeks holiday at The Hotel Balmoral. The rooms were grubby, smelled damp, in need of a good spring clean. The room we stayed in had a damp wall with peeling wall paper and plaster exposed. We had a TV that didn't work, bed linen which was stained and the bathroom was unclean with a very poor shower. I was expecting an excellent evening meal after seeing a menu on the web site, how wrong can one be I ended up walking out of the dining room and refusing to have any more meals. Please do not take notice of the website, it is in my opinion misleading.

No complaints at all about this hotel. The bedroom was lovely even if the shower room was too small but nobody goes on a holiday to stay in their room all day. The staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble. How anyone can complain about the food is beyond me. Everything was A1 and all at a very reasonable price.

Just returned from a weekend stay with the Balmoral, I have to say it was fantastic, after a reading a few negative reviews I was a little skeptical, but wow what a fab place to stay, our room was huge with large bay window and excellent sea views, everything in the hotel was immaculate. I can't rate any 2 star hotel higher to be fair........ The hotel is located in a conservation area and has some lovely walk paths, and only 10 minutes walking distance to the harbour. oh and do stay for dinner we missed out the first night. The food was great. We payed £77.00 each to stay half board over the weekend. you get a cream tea on arrival entertainment both nights and Sunday lunch before you leave, not to mention the 5 course evening meals..,,, just don't know how they do it for that kind of money.... I highly recommend this hotel. we will be returning with our friends soon....

Good points and bad points

To start with the bad points, the bed linen was not fresh as hair was evident! One of the rooms locks did not work. There was stains on the tablecloth and the glasses and cups were dirty at breakfast. Now the good points, the rooms were of an adequate size. The breakfast was a wide range of foods. The staff quite friendly. Sea view rooms, you could just see the sea but not a good view though. I doubt we will return.

Beautiful Hotel Friendly Staff & Unbeatable Price

What a lovely hotel, great location just a minutes walk from the beach and about 10 from the centre of town. The food was excellent every night and with a good choice on the menu, staff at all times where friendly helpfull and made us feel welcome. The room was quite large with a view overlooking the sea that was most attractive, not to mention everthing was clean , tidy and well presented. At night there was entertainment in the lounge which was very enjoyable, and the bar was also well stocked and had a rather large selection of whisky available. Overall this hotel is fantastic value for money (almost unbeatable) with a great relaxing atmosphere, stunning veiws and beautiful gardens. Highly Reccomended
