Unbelievable!

We thought it was going to turn out fine when we were greeted with a welcoming cup of coffee, while we were getting checked in... however, it didn't last long!
We cannot complain about the rooms as they were adequate.
We nicknamed this hotel "Fawlty Towers" and the proprietor "Cybil."
So, shall we begin with the menu...?
* Soup: Brocolli soup - so thick, when the plate was held at 45 degrees, it did not move; had the consistancy of mud / wall paper paste. You could stand your spoon up in it. So tasteless that even several seasonings - salt and pepper - could not alter the taste!
* Main course: Well, don't get me started on the Yorkshire puddings! It was made with CHEESE! Who - repeat who - makes Yorkshire puddings with cheese?!
* My friend had salad: how can you go wrong with salad, you may ask? Well, it seems that you can! Half a plate of cheese, or tuna (depending on preference) and a couple of lettuce leaves!
* After being shouted at by Cybil(!) over the subject of ordering too many omelettes (she said we ordered fifteen omelettes, however, we found out later that only seven were ordered) we felt like school children.
* Dessert (first night): Rice pudding - rock hard! Could have been used in the building trade.
* Another night dinner consisted of: Cottage pie or Liver. Not too bad, to be honest!
* Lasagne (on another, splendid night): made with LIVER! This liver was also on the menu from the night before along with the mince from the cottage pies! Was it the same liver and mince...? Call Columbo!
* We could go on and on about this... my stomach won't take it!

Moving on...

* Entertainment: The cleaner and the proprietor! Both singers!!

We could go on and on - the list is almost endless - but, we won't. It hasn't been just about the food, it's also been about the attitudes of the staff. But, not the student waitresses, as we found them to be faultless.
On a last note, don't anyone ever order the sandwiches for your journey home (for the price of £2.20, they offer you sandwiches). You get TWO slices of bread; NO butter; and ONE, proceesed cheese slice, slapped in the middle! Very substantial for a five hour journey home!! Needless to say, I'll be back next year! (Don't think so!!!!!!!)

Arrive at the hotel was greeted by June who was very accomodating and helpful as I have had a accident and forgot to bring my sticks. She went out of her way to sort out some for the week. The food was amazing and the entertainment was great. Frank the proprietor is a fantastic singer (not sure of the woman singing on a monday but funny anyway) Would recommend this hotel for a relaxed and fun holiday nice to see the traditional hotel still exisits.

Although only a short stay we were made to feel very welcome. Our room was very well serviced and meals were lovely. Will stay there again next year. It is so handy for walks to the seafront and the town, although we had our car we didn't use it once.

Congratulations to the new owners, their hard work has brought much improvement to the hotel, which we have visited twice before. There is now a lovely warm atmosphere, and the staff were happy to help, which made our stay very enjoyable, despite the one or two miserable guests in our party who were determined to not enjoy themselves. Our room was very very clean, the food was far above the standard we expected at this price, and we had a couple of great nights entertainment. We shall certainly return again next Christmas, thank you Jane and Frank and all the best for 2008

I had a fabulous waitress and the on the larger side of the dining area. She was pleasant and efficient, and always refilled my water without asking and offered sauces to accompany my meals which were fabulous .The rooms were sparkling clean and easy to adjust to.Overall i had a most enjoyable stay and would like to thank everyone for.I will be back again.

Although the rooms were clean and tidy the service in the dining room was appaling. Be prepared to wait half an hour between courses. On our first night they run out of dessert. Saw proprietess once when we first arrived and were all ushered into one room to be given the rules no smoking and no leaning out of windows for one, breakfast at 8,dinner at 6.very unpleasant and unaprochable.she came on bus when we departed(thought she was going to ask if we had a nice holiday)but no she wanted to know if we had left keys where we were told."entertainment" was man playing organ. Wouldnt recomend it and would never stay there again.

Had a wonderful stay, very relaxing, comfortable room, very homely atmosphere, small bar lounge, entertainment was twice the week we were there, friendly staff. Breakfast was at 9am and dinner at 6pm, food was lovely, waitresses were jovial, efficient and accommodating. The proprietor/ bar-lady/cook, lol, was great, explained about the Hotel upon arrival; whilst the staff took our bags to the rooms, also explained the new no smoking ban, fair enough, we're non smokers and certainly appreciated a smoke free Hotel! The bay was looking better than ever, the new Mayor has done wonders! My partner and myself have booked again for next year, can thoroughly recommend.
