The hotel was alright but for a couple of things. The Host barked her orders out from the moment our party arrived. We began to think we'd arrived at an army camp. The lift to the floors was a joke. If you were a stick insect you could just about fit yourself and a suitcase but that was it. The dining room was in the basement and didn't offer a great deal of room for plates etc on the small tables. The staff tried their best and were most polite and helpful. If we go to Torquay again, we won't be staying at the County Hotel.

We stayed for five pleasant days, all the staff were great, rooms were very clean, food was always on time and cooked too perfection. Entertainment was good even frankie doing his party piece well done. To everyone, hope to be back soon.

We stayed at The County Hotel for 5 days with our 9 year old son. The hotel is situated well within walking distance of Torquay Harbour and main shops. The staff were very welcoming and the room was clean and warm. All of our meals over the duration of our stay were prompt, delicious and plenty with a good choice. The staff worked hard to ensure our stay was pleasurable and I can't fault our stay there at all - excellent value for money.

The county hotel is rated 3 star my ratings is 5 star + staff give 100% to make your holiday. Hotel a credit to its owner in every way. Food and entertainment brilliant Thank you all for a wonderful time. See you again soon. All the best for 2009.

I stayed for a weekend break, and found my room to be clean and of a good size and my bed was quite comfy. The manager and his wife were helpful, and the night I stayed in the entertainer was better than I have watched at other hotels lately. The only thing was my room was a bit too hot at night, but better than being cold at least. Was an enjoyable stay, would return if I come back to Torquay.

What a great hotel

Been to many hotels as my partner's job is a coach driver and I cannot praise this hotel enough, good clean accomodation and great food. They have changes - chefs and the food is much better as is the entertainment first class. I would go again, infact taking my parents for a New Year treat.

This is a really nice hotel was a bit concerned when I read the past reviews, but, as they have changed management and staff what a difference to the negative comments, I only stayed for bed and breakfast for 2 nights as a stop over but wished I could have stayed for more. My breakfast was a hearty one with plenty of coffee and hot toast. The rooms have just had new digital TV's installed which were being fitted when I was staying with the minimum of fuss and it was nice to have the choice of channels and radio and alarm in a room that was more 4 star than 3 star. Will certainly stay again thanks to June for sorting out our parking problem..

Thanks to Frankie, June and the staff. The 5 day holiday was brilliant, great food clean accommodation, brilliant atmosphere. A special thanks to Diane, who was a joy to be around, a very happy person whose got a beautiful voice. I would highly recommend this hotel, you are made to feel welcome (like family). Hope to see you again.

Great service and staff

As soon as we arrived, we were made welcome and made to feel at home. All the staff worked very hard and the meals were of a very high standard as were the rooms of which we had three(18,19 and 25)
We hope to return another time perhaps for longer.
