I have just returned from a 2 night stay at the Coppice and I can't praise the owners and staff enough. We were very well treated, fabulous food, served quickly and cooked to perfection. Already planning a return visit. The only little problem was the tiny, and I mean tiny en suite bathroom.

Don't go in Oct,no heating,very cold,pool had too much chemicals. No entertainment at all on any night, food very good, mold in bathroom. This is a two star, only about ten people staying here....

We have been staying at the Coppice for many years and have always been very well satisfied with the Hotel and felt it gave exceptional value for money. It is situated in a quiet and peaceful area of Torquay set in attractive gardens with off-street parking. It is a 5 minute car drive, or alternatively a 20 minute walk, down to the Harbour. There is also a regular bus service which goes past the end of the road. The food was excellent and plentiful and the service in the dining room was very efficient. Certainly nobody should leave the table feeling hungry. The swimming facilities are very good with both inside and outside pools,spa bath,steam room and sauna. The Hotel was Wi-Fi equipped for guests with Laptops and it was free. The new owners, Syd & Jenny, were very friendly and welcoming and really went out of their way to make you feel at home. The only slight critisism I have, and this may be a temporary thing, but for a technical reason at the Torquay telephone exchange, there was no outside line on the bedroom phone. Normally this wouldn't cause too much concern but in this area the cellular signal from Vodafone was also too weak to use. Despite this we will certainly be returning to the Coppice.

We have just spent a very pleasant week at the Coppice enjoying excellent food and service. New owners Jen & Syd are very welcoming and are making daily improvements all round. The hotel situation (quiet residential area of Wellswood) is well placed, being half way between Torquay and Babbacombe with good bus services in both directions and only a short drive to get out of town. We would recommend the Coppice for all age groups and it has both indoor and outdoor pools. We will be returning soon.

We have just returned from the Coppice Hotel (Torquay) after a 4 night break. The hospitality was excellent the proprietors Jen & Syd were fantastic hosts always available and ready to help.
The food was excellent, twice we asked for items that weren't on the menu, but received exactly what we asked for.
The amenities were also good, my daughter (16) was never out of the indoor pool and the sauna and steam room were used extensively too. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Torquay, we will be visiting again later in the year.

We have just spent 4 days with our two friends at the Coppice. We had stayed befor (three times) with the previous owners.We were made very welcome. The staff were very friendly the new owners looked after our needs. We stayed in the family suite - it was kept clean & tidy with clean towels daily. The food was excellent. We wish Jen & Syd (the new owners all best in the best with updating the hotel and hope to stay with them perhaps later in the year.

We had a very enjoyable week here, two of the guests had been returning for 19 years on the trot and no,they were not pensioners.O.K. the bedrooms may have been a bit tired but hey,it was a clean hotel with great food and fabulous staff and we have stayed in plenty of more expensive hotels that were worse.If you book here, ask for room number 23, it's a family room which gives you bags of room and a nice view over the gardens.

We have stayed at the Coppice Hotel for the past 7 years and it is excellent. I can not agree with the previous review of 'very miserable' - we have been to this hotel several times a year and nearly all guests return from year to year, so something must be right and I would presume that 'very miserable' must be looking for fault where-ever she stayed!
This hotel is fairly central to Torquay sea front and town centre being only a 5 minute drive away. The Coppice hotel is VERY friendly with a relaxed atmosphere. All staff are very pleasant and friendly and you are always made to feel welcome by the owner and his staff.
The hotel facilities are also excellent with an indoor heated pool, outdoor pool (if the weather's nice!) and entertainment during the summer months. The bar area is nice with friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere.
The food is EXCELLENT with a full 5 course meal which is to a very high standard and certainly plenty of it!
Overall the Coppice Hotel is certainly well recommended if visiting Torquay and we will be back soon!
I can only say that this hotel is superb and the best we have been to in or out of Torquay!

Surely very miserable has made a mistake and actually stayed at a different hotel,or perhaps she isn't happy wherever she goes. We have stayed at the Coppice for the last 11 years and have never been disappointed. We do go on other holidays but this one is definitely our favourite. The owner and staff are lovely and welcoming, including the lady behind the bar! The food is delicious with ample choice in a very pleasant dining room. There is a lovely indoor and outdoor pool and there was entertainment on 3 nights when we were there. I always feel so happy and relaxed, the minute I walk through the door. If there isn't anyone on reception when you happen to want a drink or something to eat etc in the day it takes about a minute for someone to arrive when you ring the bell and then you are served promptly with a smile. It is EXCELLENT value for money and has many qualities of a more expensive hotel. We shall be back next year as usual.
