Loved our stay at "Candlesticks." Had wonderful dinner with a long lost friend here! Nelio was immaculate as "my-host" and made us very welcome. Loved the smell of the polish in the mornings.

I have been staying at Candlesticks every year since 1985, and have never been disapointed. The service is always first class, the food never fails to delight, the rooms are well equipped, comfortable and inviting and the propietor and his son are always a joy to see. Each year I see familiar guests, so I am by no means alone in my opinion.

Top Local Tips for Stamford

Burleigh House A must do! From the town center about a 15 minute walk... but be forewarned, that's 15 minutes to the grounds of the House, from there its another 15 minute walk to the House. Wonderful Home: historical significance as well as beautiful (used in many movies also). ** Note: not open on Fridays

A lovely town Loads to see - beautiful old buildings etc. Interesting shops. And lots of other places to stay!

Take the train. We drove to Stamford. Like much of England the traffic and parking situation is awful. Haven't tried the train, but don't see how it could be worse.
