Didn't even get a foot in the door!

I sent an email to the lady of the house enquiring about a night in October. I very quickly got a reply to say there was a room available & to make contact if I wished to book. I phoned & the lady's husband answered I mentioned the email & that it was late October when we wished to stay as part of our anniversary weekend. Then it all went strange, He said "We're on holiday then, can't you stay somewhere else" Yes! just like that,he hadn't even checked which date, he then reluctantly checked & said it hadn't been crossed off but his wife would need to call me but she was out. Then uncomfortable silence,(I began to think there had been a marital dispute or something,) so I said she could call me via the telehone or send another email ... I have'nt heard anything as yet??? Warm,friendly & welcoming ... not so sure now & both upset at the gentleman's phone manner,(very reluctant & vague) & very disappointed

Perfect place to stay

We have been staying at this hotel since the mid 80's, which has always had good owners. The present owners will always make you welcome, it is home from home, the perfect place to stay. St.Ives is very good to see the area of South Cornwall.
